I wonder if they're going to be like Doom has his mask on and RDJ's voice will be modulated and then at the end of Fantastic Four we get him without the helmet to reveal RDJ.
I am betting there will be a good Tony played by RDJ in Secret Wars. But most of his time will be spent as Doom between the 2 moviesIt's always possible RDJ will play a good Tony Stark/Iron Man variant in Secret Wars, while also playing Doom.
That way MCU could have their cake and eat it.
No, he will for sure have the mask until he gets the God Doom powers. Doom fixes his face once he absorbs the Beyonder's power in the OG Secret Wars. That's what will happen here. He will become god, fix his face, and stop wearing the maskI wonder if they're going to be like Doom has his mask on and RDJ's voice will be modulated and then at the end of Fantastic Four we get him without the helmet to reveal RDJ.
I'll say this right now: he'll wear the mask for one scene in Doomsday and then never again. Considering recent news, I wholeheartedly believe this is what's going to happen considering RDJ's shameless vanity.
Some need to accept this character isn't Doom, more a what-if fallen Tony Stark, vehicle for RDJ.The confusing thing was Downeys comments in June where he said he was surprisingly open to returning and playing Stark was in his blood, he loved that role, so to come back as someone [else] goes against his own comments, guess we will see what they have planned, just as some have said, most people identify RDJ as Stark and when they find out he is back and not Iron Man, i wonder if that will turn people off

Which is actually a fine character to explore, that they are just (calling)$elling to you as Doom. (cause their multiverse allows for it)
And yeah as far as wearing the mask, if some are expecting a Hugo Weaving as V level performance, that emoted and carried a whole film fully masked.
That is not what you will see here, this well payed ego is not going to do most of his "acting" with the mask on.
Besides dramatic (I have arrived) walk in scenes, then quickly removing it, and tech fight scenes (which will again show the face inside), that pretty face and it's new beauty-scar, will be a mostly Maskless Doom.
Starting with the poster, he'll likely be holding it not wearing it.
I am telling ya, he is going to wear it until he gets the God Doom power and then they will recreate the scene in Secret Wars where he takes the mask off and reveals he no longer has scars. Then he won't wear the mask anymore. I am extremely confident this will be the play

They already own the character, they can do what they want with it, what they are paying for and selling you, is the actor.
And the mindless applause by the drones at the con, just affirms their decision.
I dont think he will make himself resemble Iron Man. You may just see characters comment on him looking like Tony and maybe they will say he is in fact a variant Tony, just with a different name and heritage. I don't see them being like "I like this Iron Man guy, I shall make myself look like him now" or anything like that.Maybe thats the point of having RDJ?
God Doom fixes his face to make himself look like Earth's Greatest Hero
Idk, I mean, why not?I dont think he will make himself resemble Iron Man. How do we know Doom will have a hud display inside the mask like Iron Man? Doom's mask always seems more of a mask for covering his face than something very technologically advanced.
That scene is about as bad as that one from the fake Endgame leak where Hulk was like "My rematch is coming, I can feel it" lol! I have to believe we won't see something that utterly stupid on filmIdk, I mean, why not?
God Doom: "I saved you all and gave this planet utopia, and you spit in my face, you disrespect me and still see me as the Villain..."
Reveals RDJ face: "Is this your villain?"
Might make the everyday humans more compliant to follow who they believe to be Tony Stark
Just as valid (and cringey) as any other theory I've seen thrown around lol
If he just so happens to like kinda like Stark, that's even dumber, though the multiverse variant idea is probably the correct answer
Hey, thats just what immediately popped in my head, not pitching to be a writer on the film hereThat scene is about as bad as that one from the fake Endgame leak where Hulk was like "My rematch is coming, I can feel it" lol! I have to believe we won't see something that utterly stupid on film
I didn't mean your writing, I mean this scene as a concept is bad. If you thought I was insulting you, I apologize. I am more saying conceptually, I think this would play poorly regardless how they write it. Doom taking Tony's face as his own choice is just cringey. Aaron Sorkin ain't making that idea good either.Hey, thats just what immediately popped in my head, not pitching to be a writer on the film here
I'm sure a real writer with time, and RDJ to work off of, could make it work well
no need to be insulting about it
While i get what you are saying, Dooms motivation in infamous Iron man was Tony was dead and he felt the world needed Iron man, and in his own way, he was honoring a man he respected but also atoning for his own bad deeds, at the end of the day in that story, he was still Victor Von Doom and didnt look like Tony, just wore a combination of his Doom look and Iron man, this casting of RDJ is hard to figure by marvel, if it is simply to get people back because its RDJ and not what people wanted if he did return and not playing Tony Stark, then many fans will pass, IMO, we see how it is in the fan community, its confusing to everyone and we actually follow this, the casual fan who knew RDJ as Stark now seeing him, in the same universe a few years removed from end game and numerous referrences to Tony in Spider-man, and other shows, as Dr. Doom a completely different person who just happens to look and sound exactly as Tony, thats a heck of a leap of faith for some who adored him as Tony Stark, so again, whatever their plan is for him it better be worth the effort of trying to convince alot of fans to buy into this, especially when there are other actors who would have done this cheaper and as well.Google "Infamous Iron Man". They'll probably go with that look.

I can see that, again it really hinges on what exactly Marvel is planning here, they are paying RDJ and the Russos a crap ton of money for them to convince audiances that the guy who was the face of the MCU for ten years is back and he aint TonyI just think they'll use that design to drive home the Iron Man connection.
All I know is that there will be more people in the theater because Robert Downey Jr. is in the movie — the role is inconsequential. But… if he is simply playing Doom, could someone else show up as Iron Man? The mind reels!
