I couldn't decide whether to put this in Books & Music or Celebrities, I chose to put it here but if a mod sees fit to move it or merge it with another thread please go ahead.
'Twilight' actor Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain in Hollywood biopic
Also why am I not surprised that Courtney Love has insisted on having her hands all over this project? She should have some input but it sounds to me like she's making all of the decisions in the production of this movie which doesn't give me much hope that this movie (assuming it actually gets made) will be a faithful tribute to Kurt or the band. I'll keep my fingers crossed I guess.
'Twilight' actor Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain in Hollywood biopic
My first reaction was something like OMFGWTFBBQ, but after bothering to look up some pictures of Pattinson where he's not covered in vampire glitter I guess I can kind of see a resemblance. The Twilight star is said to have always thought of himself as a musician rather than an actor so securing a part playing the Nirvana lead singer, who shot himself in 1994, is ideal for him, The Sun reports.
Pattinson, 23, has been in regular contact with Cobains widow Courtney Love, who has been handed a key role in the production by bosses at Universal Pictures.
The singer wanted Pattinson as Cobain and Scarlett Johansson, 25, to portray her.
A source said: "This is a big money deal for Courtney.
"She has agreed to the film on condition that she gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music."Robert has been calling and emailing her non-stop. She has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt.
"She is adamant Scarlett will play her. Scarlett is friendly with Frances Bean, her daughter with Kurt."
Love, 45, has been in touch with director David Fincher about the project, which has the working title All Apologies.
He was behind Fight Club, Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
It's not the first time a studio have tried to make a film about Nirvana, who had hits with Come As You Are and Smells Like Teen Spirit.
A few years ago Sony Pictures were disapproved by Love when they floated the idea of High School Musical actor Zac Efron, 22, as Cobain, while Frances Bean, 17, would play her mum.
