Who would you cast to play the comedian himself and the people he surrounded himself with and who should direct?

I feel like, if they were to do one, they shouldn't do it now. Maybe wait a little bit.

I honestly don't know who could play him at this point. He was very one of a kind.

I think if it was to be done it should be a long time before it should even be considered.
As for who could play him, I have no clue.
The only actor that I think has anywhere near the level of zany, manic comic skill required is Jim Carrey.

But these kinds of thing are usually warts and all, not necessarily being totally true either.

I for one, don't want to see this ever made.
Robin Williams and my memories of him throughout the years are too precious to me.

Eddie Redmayne will probably campaign for it. Oscar potential in a comedian who touched the lives of millions, who went dramatic and ended his life on a tragic note. A film like this would probably not be made until 2017 or later, but knowing Hollywood, we're but "a stone throw's away".

It would have to be an unknown, after an extensive search. I just can't think of anyone to do him justice and also have his physical attribute.

A younger Steve Carell would have been great.

I'm glad this is just a fan cast thread. It would be weird for there to be a biopic made so soon. It would be really hard to accept someone in the role right now and incredibly difficult to pull off.

It says a lot about how special Williams is when I can't think of anyone that can play him and do it justice. I was tempted to make a DDL suggestion but it's still too soon.
