RoboCop Reboot

Look at Robo in the TAS...he's virtually the same, but has a lot more manoeuvres and enhanced speed.

Also, I'd like a plot involving Murphy being selected for the Robocop project, based on his psych profile, and being deliberately set up to be murdered. Akin to the first the movie and Robocop 2, where the OCP heads are wondering why Murphy was a success and the future Robocop's were failures. It was only because of Murphy's dedication to his job and a devoted Irish-Catholic was he able to stand the mental strain of becoming a cyborg.

But for the sake of keeping the original intact and its own thing without trying to look like its trying to copy the greatness of the original, there really no point in keeping it the same. I think as a director if you're going the way you are with this, changing the suit up should be apart of that.

Making him too different will alienate a lot of the original fans, and making him too much the same isn't really interesting.

The elements that made him unique in the first place have to remain, but also have to be spiced up and completely new things have to be added to make him more cool.

There's a video on Youtube called Robocop VS The Terminator, and you see a lot comments that ridicule Robo and claim he could never beat The Terminator in a fight...that has to be changed then :)

Also, I would be very cautious about his speed and movements. Look at the Robo in Prime Directives, the actor's movements were terrible, because he didn't want to follow Peter Weller's performance...big mistake!

Quite frankly, there are several franchises that need a reboot after terrible sequels (Predator, Terminator, Alien, etc) and Robocop desperately needed it after Robocop 3. However, I'm afraid of the new concept regarding the suit. I concede that the new Robo shouldn't be a carbon copy but it shouldn't stray too far away from original design.

Ya but when you take an known property like comic books, etc..., you expect designs of characters looks to overall be simular, even if you make some athestic changes. If you totally overhaul looks its not really robocop any more.

They should use his design from the Robocop: Alpha Commando animated series. Along with all his "Inspector Gadget" like attachments lol :D

-DOOM :doom:

I agree that it shouldn't be too far from the original to the point where it's unrecognizeable, but it should be its own thing too while pleasing both sides.

is the new movie actually a remake/reboot or is it a story told within the confines of the timeline of the first Robocop. Because my friend told me it's the latter but i think he's just bullsh**ting

It's consuming because how much we didn't see in the original wasnt a whole lot for an arc or a complete narrative.

I like what Kinnaman had recently said about it.

Its a full reboot/reimagining wha ever wording you like to say.

Just read it some nice comments from joel on the film. Plus his excitment for the project.

Story within a story...

But seriously, just say its a remake.

To be Robocop and work with Oldman ya I'd be excited too lol.

It is a reboot/remake/reimagining lol. The comment joel and jose have made before the theme of how a man becomes the machine is the working view of the film. Ie which means is how that aspect was glanced over in original we will see more on that with this film.

He's got a really good point about remakes.

It was in a way but plays aren't the same..you can watch an original film on the dvd, it wont go away. But I am stull very excited for this.

edit- in saying that, I do like different takes on things.

I love robocop, and even though everyone is saying how stupid this movie will be, I am excited for it. I would really like to see a teaser because I don't know anything about what we are getting from it.

When can we expect to see a teaser?

probably not to early next yr, since production doesnt start to sept.

Didn't we get the Amazing Spider-Man teaser about a year ago? We would probably get a teaser for this film like September or October...

we likely wont have any film footage to early next yr as i said production doesnt start to sept according to joel. If we get anything in next few months it will be either leaked set photos, or officially released photos from the studio. I dont expect any trailers to next yr so they have some footage to show.

Fu** Joel Kinnaman. I really wanted Chris Pine to play Murphy. ARGH!
