RoboCop Reboot

No Boddicker. No point in trying to bring him back because he's not some famous character that people expect to see like Blofeld or The Joker. Plus, I just can't accept there being two Clarence's in this universe.

I think Jeffrey Donovan would make a great Alex Murphy/Robo Cop.

Something about that guy annoys the hell out of me lol.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing Donavan would be good

Damian Lewis and Jeffrey Donavan are my top choices. They probably wont even be seriously looked at though

Just got done form watching Robocop for the first time since I was 5. still awesome.

Hopefully, this remake is good.

Jose Padihla is directing and his movies are beyond good. The Elite Squad series definitely shows he's more than capable.

Usually I'd be against a reboot like this but with Padihla they actually have a very good chance of making a worthwhile reboot.

Back when Burn Notice first started. I always thought he kind of resembles Weller. And joked that if they ever do another Robocop they should cast him.

On the reboot. I don't know how I feel about it. I really don't think there's anything else there needs to be said about the character. But Idk. Just don't think we really need another Robocop movie. When we 've had weaker movies and adventures of the character that never quite matched up to the original. The movies and series that followed made Robo seem like a one trick pony, imo. But we'll see.

I first loved the Robocop trilogy as a kid,was a HUGE fan growing up and last year I bought the special edition of the first one and bought the other two,Just hate them now and can't even stand them anymore while watching&paying attention to stuff that I did not notice before.....

I mostly hate the really really out dated special effects,I ended up selling them at my nearest pawnshop and sometimes I get the urge to buy them again But I just know I ain't really a fan anymore,But so that's one reason why I'm interested in the reboot!

eh I'll likely end up buying them again when the reboot is about to release!

My only problem with that Burn Notice guy is that he's awful. He just can't act.

Jim Caviezal (sp?) should be RoboCop.

A big concern of mine would be the themes of the film, and how they update them. The 80's Robo was so attached to the decade (corporate ruling, cynicism, violence and lack of empathy etc). These days would have to be about peoples reliance on technology, social media, lack of faith in goverment bodies (USA, Australia, England), financial instability etc.

A bigger concern is the balance of violence and the black humour. That ***** was awesome in the original, god knows how they'd pull that off again. Fincher could probably do something like it, maybe Aronofsky.

EDIT: Haven't been through the rest of this thread, so sorry if it's been said.

I hated the idea of a Robocop remake at first but sadly its going to happen. Aronofsky's involvement made me curious about it though. I was interested in seeing what someone with his talent could do with that story.

If they get a truly talented director with a great vision on board and respect the original movie I'll give it a chance. If its a remake just to remake it I'm not interested. They have to make something truly outstanding.

How about Garrett Hedlund.

I think this guy would be an interesting choice for Robo. Especially since he looks like Weller. Hey if not Robo then how about Buckaroo Banzai.

Alex Skarsgard - RoboCop / Murphy
Missy Peregrym - Officer Lewis
John Slattery - Dick Jones
Walton Goggins - Clarence Boddicker
Adam Scott - Bob Morton
Michael Gambon - The Old Man
Clarke Peters - Johnson

Just read that Chris Pine is the main contender for Murphy, Not someone i would have thought of if i'm honest.

I like Pine, but he feels all wrong for this role.

Personally i was hoping for Daniel Craig, Pine looks too good looking (but i thought the same about Ledger for Joker)

Better than the other casting i heard of Depp and Reeves. As good as Depp is, he's not right for Murphy.

I wish they would look at Jeffrey Donavan or Damien Lewis

Because none of the choices thats rumored seem like Robocop to me

When i watch it i want to see Murphy, not Depp or Reeves playing a guy named Murphy. While at the moment i'm not mad on Pine, i will at least not see Pine playing Murphy as aside from Star Trek i've seen him in little else.
