Just got back from it...Coogler is 2 for 2. It was a small crowd but it was 4pm on Thanksgiving day so that may have something to do with it, lol. Small crowd but they were definitely into it. One lady during the final fight got all loud: "get up, get up!" lol

Sounds eerily like mine. You're not in Miami are you?

I think what Coogler knows how to do is capture how people act. Like the scene in her apartment and he's messing with her. That is how dudes act.
You can see that quality in Fruitvale Station as well. Having a real lived in authentic feel in a film, a big Hollywood film no less, isn't an easy thing to do.

Just got back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Really well directed and acted.

Good movie overall and the boxing scenes were outstanding with great use of sound and music. Love it when Creed enters the 3 boxing rings especially the last one, the way they shot it continuously makes you feel like you're experiencing it vicariously thru Creed.

Also when the iconic Rocky music starts playing really tugged at my nostalgia heartstrings. I'll say it, I got teary-eyed.

Just got back from it. A damn fine film, and one of the best in the franchise's long history. Sly needs the Oscar.

This surpassed all my expectations. This was on par with the original. 10/10

Now give me a Creed II with Adonis vs Drago, Jr.

Drago Jr. will be played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (hey, Apollo wasn't the only one who got around).

So if I did my math right, this movie takes place in 2010. The opening says it's 1998. Then when we see MBJ it says 12 years later. So Adonis is 25 which makes it more believable. And Duke's son is running Creed's old gym in LA.

The cloud line kind of is anachronistic then. Yeah it was a thing bit it wasn't common knowledge

Meh. The whole timeline thing isn't a big deal for me...

Back in Rocky 4, Rocky was able to buy a robot with actual AI...REAL AI.. so yeah, I don't think the timeline is that important.

I've only watch the first Rocky movie so I barely know how the time line susses out. If they cheated it, I don't care.

Rocky was watching Skyfall on TV, which came out in November 2012.

This is definitely surprise of the year. I didn't think too much of it when I saw the trailer. It was a cool concept, but I didn't think it'd fly. Man was I wrong. I'd love to see Stallone get a best supporting actor nod for this. Great film.

Excellent film, Rocky's monologue pertaining to all the people in his past being gone and he's the only one left really hit me. Just the look in Sly's eyes, there was a lot of real emotion there. And there were some excellent little comedy breaks here and there.

I can see Coogler, and Sly getting nominations.

Coogler has said that Adonis is 30.

Movie is absolutely amazing. Way better than any of the sequels and may even be on par with the original.

People wouldn't care as much if Stallone wasn't in it.

Creed 2 does Adonis fight Clubber Lang Jr or Drago Jr?
In Creed II, President Hillary Clinton recruits Adonis to take on Boris Ivanovich Drago to win a bet with Vladimir Putin over the future of the Crimea.

Great movie, on the whole, I thought. I was kind of expecting Mrs. Creed to have a scene with Rocky at some point (the movie could have done a bit more with her, in general), but the development of the characters was terrific. I don't think Stallone has ever been better than he is here.

The "love interest" part can often be thankless, but I thought Coogler and Tessa Thompson did a good job with the part, and the character concept (a singer progressively going deaf) was a step above her just being some random girl the hero falls for.
