If the character of Roman Sionis/Black Mask is ever introduced into the Batfleck universe if he is ever introduced into the DCEU as a villain then who should play Black Mask?

Joel Edgerton would do a good job. The problem is you'd have to find an actor who is willing to cover most of his face for a significant portion of the movie.

Mahersala Ali would be good but he was already Cottonmouth

My pick for Black Mask definitely would be Luke Evans or Jude Law as Roman Sionis/Black Mask

Luke Evans could be good, but I want him for Sinestro so much more.

Black Mask is supposed to be the villain in Gotham City Sirens, but I'm not sure if there will be any mention of him in The Batman. Is GCS still considered part of the Batfleck universe or just a broader part of the DCEU.

What about Alessandro Gassman from Transporter 3?

Why do people still act like the fact that an actor has played a character in one comic book universe automatically disqualifies that actor from playing a different character in a different universe ? It's already happened too many times to count.

Brilliant actor. He was definitely a highlight of Hannibal's 3rd season and played probably the best Red Dragon in live action media. I actually would've chosen him for Batman had Affleck not already been cast.

How about Mark Strong then as Roman Sionis/Black Mask

Black Mask is in GCS. Ayer droppeda huge hint that can't be denied. He's definitely not my favorite Batman villain, but he has earned his place in the canon. Whoever they get, he needs to convey a serious lack of empathy, Black Mask is a sick guy. The only suggestion which has really worked for me has been Mahersala Ali, but I'm open

Mahersala Ali would be so good! I really hope he's the big threat in GCS as his role in Brubaker's Catwoman was terrifying. I'd share an image but it's a little terrifying.

Jackie Earl Haley. He was creepy as Rorschach, and has played a horror villain before. Plus, a mask wouldn't bother him :)

Every actor in Watchmen must show up in the DCEU.

His face adds so much to the characters that he plays.
I feel like it would be a shame to cover it up completely. :funny:

He's my pick for Zsasz

I just want to hear Kiefer Sutherland's voice coming from behind that mask...

I'd rather have the Penguin.

Nothing Black mask could do that that Oswald Cobblepot couldn't do just as well if not better.

That's nice, but this is a casting thread, so you know...

Al Pacino. I think this role was made for him and back in the day would've been Ideal. I'm not sure he'd be quite as effective today so I put together a list of actors I feel have a similar quality that Pacino has to pull off this role.

Val Kilmer, Sean Penn, Bobby Cannavale, Liev Schreiber, Mel Gibson, Mickey Rourke, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Peter Greene, and my out there wild card picks are Andrew Dice Clay and Eddie Murphy.

I think under the right direction, these guys would own this role.

My pick for Black Mask was always Vincent Cassell.
Today I don't know who I'd choose.

I feel that some of you here don't really know and understand Black Mask. In the comics he's a wealthy heir to a cosmetics fortune (who ended up murdering his parents, with the complicity of his model girlfriend, 'Circe'), and a contemporary of Bruce Wayne. He's portrayed as a rather charmless, nondescript type whose sociopathic personality only comes alive when he assumes his Black Mask persona.

In many ways he's like the evil mirror image of Bruce Wayne, and so it would make sense to cast an actor who is roughly Ben Affleck's age and of similar temperament. Personally, I think Matt Damon, (Ben's old mate) would be perfect in the part, or, if he's now willing to play a comic-book character, having finally won an Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio.

But he should certainly be portrayed as a blue-blooded, old-money type who chose to enter the criminal underworld rather than someone who was born into the gangster lifestyle.

Batman: Under the Red Hood....I want to see a Black Mask portrayed either exactly or very similar to this.
