Ron Howard to take The Hillbilly Elegy

The Oscar odds seem to be more stacked in Amy Adams's favor this year more than others.

Eh, as much as I'd love to see her win, I think Francis McDormand and Viola Davis have the odds in their favor. Even though they've both won before, their films are a lot "buzzier" and based on a lot less controversial source material. Glenn Close, though, I think this might finally be her year.

I feel like this was not a good trailer. I'll check it out, because I watch all of the Awards contenders, but it's really not jumping out at all to me, even without my personal feelings towards Vance and his book.

Close is coming for that supporting Oscar.

Long, long, long overdue.

Y’all are focused on the look.

I’m focused on Glenn Close having Terminator-related dialogue.

I love Amy Adams but this trailer was.....not for me.

I'll lmao if Close is nominated for this but loses to Olivia Colman again for The Father.

This looks excellent. Gonna definitely check it out.

Reviews are coming in and, while I expected this to get a middling response, I did not expect the reactions to be THIS bad. Glenn Close may have to wait another year for her tiny golden man after all...

What’s the last good film Howard made? Apollo 13?

Give the man a little more credit. He's done a handful of good ones since then. A Beautiful Mind (which won Best Picture), Frost/Nixon (which was nominated for Best Picture), and Rush, to name a few. And I know a lot of people **** on The Grinch, but that movie is entertaining as hell thanks to Jim Carrey.

Solo and In the Heart of the Sea were two of the most listless, "just there" movies I've ever seen.

Solo was great, **** all y’all. :o

Solo is one of those movies that's better on a rewatch, but I constantly forget that it was a Ron Howard movie.

He did produce and narrate Arrested Development so he has done some great stuff on the tv side.

Glenn Close has no luck... the reception here will derail any Oscar chances. Sophia Loren seems to be sprinting towards that Best Actress win.

I'm still hoping Close (and Pfeiffer) get a nomination at the very least this year.
