My name is Ross Hughes and I'm a freelance colorist, full time contributor to the space program and all around smart a$$. Look forward to meeting and greeting many of you in my travels through cyberspace, and maybe even planet earth.

Feel free to hurl insults, comment, critique, bow down, throw money, name your children after me, whatever.....

I'll start off with some older stuff, and then update as I go along.

This was my first attempt at coloring a pic. Yikes!

This was one of the first pictures I colored when I trying to learn. Better than my first to be sure.

Nightcrawler is, without a doubt my second favorite character behind Batman. And Alan Davis is the best at drawing him in my opinion. I couldn't pass this up, and I'm eagerly awaiting the day I can go back and rework this using what I've learned.

These are some pages that I greyscaled for the SPA Idol '06 contest of at the Dimestore Website.

Did I mention that George Perez is the MAN?

Wannabez is coming your way. Just as soon as I find some time to greyscale it. *sigh*

Lobo, the main man. Not to be confused with George Perez is just simply the MAN!!!

These are a couple of pieces I colored in tribute to the late great Mike Wieringo. RIP Mike.

I did this as a real quickie. Took about an hour, which is really impressive considering I'm slow as molasses.

A logo I designed for my day job at United Space Alliance. I work with the Photo/TV group to provide camera, video recorders, power cables, ect. to the Space Shuttle and the group wanted to design a logo that could be used on T-shirts and mugs and such.

A pin up I colored for Emissary #5. They went with a different version (with a yellow background) than this one, but I liked this best.

And last a movie poster design for a B movie. The elements were meant to be split further apart on the poster itself with the title in the center acting as the lightsource. Still waiting to be paid for that nearly two years later....... <_<

A project I was working on that seems to have fallen through the cracks the way so many independant books do, was The Veil. Hopefully, we can pick it back up, but until then, here are a couple of pages I can show.

Wolvianna Jones!!!

I've had this pic in my stash for a while now, and even made a feeble attempt at it when I was first learning how to color. Well, with the movie out now, my wife asked me to re-do the pic for her, so here it is.

Quick warm-up using watercolor brushes in Photoshop.

Tim Townsend posted this con sketch on his DA page, and I figured it would make a good warm-up piece. I spent a little less than a hour and a half from start to finish on it. What do you guys think?

I colored this on Friday while I was bored out of my mind at work.

Had this pic in my stash for a while now, and just never got around to coloring it. I've been on a bit of an X-men kick for a little while now, so here we go.

I guess that's it for now. Hopefully I'll have some more that I can post in the near future. Until then, let me know what you think. Where I can improve, things I can try differently, ect. You won't hurt my feelings. I don't seem to have any.

Pretty good stuff ther you poozer.

Well you said call you names:D

One more from Fallen Justice and then I've got to get back to work. I'm hoping to have time to finish a Joker pic before the weekend as well.

The Dark Knight was without a doubt the best movie I've seen in years (if not ever), so when I saw this Joker drawing over on DA, I just had to color it. What do you think?

This is the 1st part of the cover to Fallen Justice #5. I plan on working the second part this weekend. The final image will be that of a shattered picture laying on a table. Anger management. :shake: I'll post the final image in here once it's finished. In the mean time, tell me what you think.

Really good stuff do you draw or just color?

I like your colors, but that artist is kinda poopy. Your company needs to hire ME to draw. Then we could make beautiful comic babies together. Not that I'm gay or anything.

dude amazing stuff..i also colored that pic of sgt rock and dude..it looks almost EXACTLY like yours. not saying you stole it..b/c there is no way you could have. but man, kinda weird huh? :P

keep it up man

Thanks, everyone!

RAMORE - I used to draw, but I haven't done it seriously in years, so I doubt I could produce much that I would be happy with anymore. :cwink:

Chuckymack - Thanks for your comments, but I will have to respectfully disagree with you on Harold's art. In fact, he's one of my favorite artists, and I think it's a shame that his style isn't what's "in" in mainstream comics right now. The high road is over that way. You might want to take it every once in a while. ;)

Comic-Maniac - I work pretty much exclusively in Photoshop CS2, although I'm trying to find the time to teach myself Painter as well. I really want to branch out and try different things with that program.

Here is the final version of the cover:
