As for Tom vs Brandon, who will have the better film career? Well Brandon is off to a better start so far anyways I'd say.

Life Is Hot in Cracktown (2008) (post-production) .... Sizemore

Well obviously, Routh now has lots of opportunities thanks to him playing Superman.

He deserves it too, a thoroughly nice and down to earth chap!

Welling is stuck in the TV series until it ends. Unfortunate that, because Welling has become a better actor over the years since when he started, he just needs a breakout role.

Last rumour was that Welling was going to be in a Teen Wolf Remake!

:wow:

I liked Tom in the Cheaper By The Dozen movies and the Fog and see potential in him. Based on my jungement of who will have the better career I'd have to say Welling 'cause he's the only one of the two that caught my eye.

Neither. Welling's primary teenage girl audience will (well, already have) out grown him and he doesn't have the talent to fall back on.

Routh could've had a good career if he marketed himself properly during SR's promotion. I mean, Routh should've been the new big thing with teenage girls, he should've been on every magazine cover (NOT SUPERMAN MIND YOU, BRANDON ROUTH), he should've marketed himself just as much as the movie. He didn't. Now that the movie was not very commercially successful and didn't give him a chance to prove he is a great actor being as he had all of 20 lines means he will be stuck in indies. He is seemingly trying to turn this Dylan Dog movie into his breakout role, but it won't be. It has 2008's Serenity written all over it (ie, bombs despite strong fan base). He'll be doing TV movies in a couple years.

I don't think either of them will do all that well, neither is a particually strong actor. Unless they have a breakout performance, they'll just be passing fads.

poll?

i dunno...wtf is dylan dog?

based on looks; routh.
based on chops...not welling

Routh looks more like a Hollywood star. I know Welling wont be a big star; but I need to see more of Routh before I can say if hell be Josh Hartnett/Hayden Christensen 2.0 or Leo Dicaprio 2.0

i thought the Fog was one of the worst movies i have ever seen, if welling can only play in those ****ty flicks, there is no way he can compete with brandon routh imo

Leo did Titanic before Gangs of New York and The Departed.

Before Routh can ever do anything in the league of DiCaprio, he needs to do something commercially viable, and the problem is no real studio wants him for a block buster after SR's disappointment.

Interesting points Matt. I think Routh has a chance to get back on track but will have to be well received in some other roles. I actually think it's less about what he does as Dylan than what he does with The Informers and that biopic as well.

I'm gonna go with the handsome one who makes me believe he's Clark and Superman so Routh wins.

What am I saying. in any contest Routh destroys welling. See, I didn't even use an upper case "w."

i agree

I think Routh can be a great actor just that with Superman he went from 0 to 60 from doing tv shows to a big budget leading man summer blockbuster. It isn't so much that he did a bad job in SR but his lack of experience really showed. He just needs to do some movies.

brandon really did a great job in SR, and it was his first film

I say quit making vs threads.

Quick one: Arnold from 'True Lies' vs Arnold from 'Eraser' OMFGZZZZ

You didn't like the Fog but me along with a lot of people didn't like SupesReturns. What is there for Welling to compete with. All routh did was speak with an incredibly geaky accent moving his lips in a very disturbing way while having a complete battle with his lines and the English language. While Welling may have some crappy SV episodes, at least he brings his own Supes to the table and not some cheap Holloween impression like routh. It's obvious he only got the part because he semi looked like Reeves, certainly not because of his acting chops. I've seen the behind the scenes on the SRdvd with routh. I mean come on, how is he supposed to act like Superman when he can't even act like HIMSELF.:down

even if SR sucked, it wasn't as bad as the Fog, and im sure a lot of people would agree

I was actually rferig to a pre Titanic Dicaprio.

I.e. Routh needs to get do some indi movies first to hone his craft; then use his good looks and talent to get some leading man roles to make people think "wow; that superman actor can act!" before he finds his "Titanic".

they both will make little to no mark on the world. much like this thread.

Agreed. Th question in this thread should pretty much be

"Who will charge more for autographs for the few fans who remember them at San Diego Comic Con 2020?"

Welling wont; simply because hes been around 6 years and if he wa sheaded for a big career we would know.

Routh we cant judge yet; though he does have 4 scheduled films for 2008. We'll have a better idea of where he is headed abuot a year from now

1. Don't post in the movie forum that often but I'm sure I haven't seen this thread on here before
2. Haven't personally made a vs thread for a long time
