Routh vs Welling... Who will have the better film career? /Non Supes related\

Jesus Christ, what a pointless thread - no offense. But all it will cause is flaming from both the pro and anti Routh/Welling nuts out there. :whatever:

Both Routh and Welling will be fine overall.

Eh, blame me not the OP if you must. I was looking for something on Dead of Night and this thread popped up, so I answered it. I didn't even look at the dates until after I posted. At that point, what are you going to do?

Overall I think Routh,but I have'nt seen any movies with Routh in it besides SR. I have'nt seen but the FOG with Wlling in it so /shrug. I think Routh did'nt advertise himself when he should of like one poster said.
I don't think both guys will have huge roles in movies maybe just side gigs/small roles..

I don't think we'll hear of Welling after Smallville's over.

And that should of ended a long time ago.
 
For a while, I felt sorry for Routh.

It took him 2 years, but it seems like he's rebounding fast.

With Welling, I think he'll survive. I don't get the hate though; the show might 'suck' but does that mean the actors suck too?

Routh campaigned his ass off for Superman Returns. Anywhere that film was doing promotion leading up to its release, he was there. Ditto that for his indie film Fling (which showed up in like...10 screens) and Zack & Miri Make a Porno - where his role was basically an extended cameo.

For his part, Welling pimped Smallville hard-core during its first couple of seasons. However the last few years, he basically does his 22-24 episodes and that's it - no interviews, no promotions, nada.

Bet on Routh being more like Hartnett/Christensen than DiCaprio. Truthfully, I don't think he'll even reach H/C status. I guess I'm a pessimist just because most Superman actors don't really go on to have much in the way of a career. I imagine Welling will just fade away after Smallville.

That makes me think Welling doesn't have the stomach for fame.

It's hard to imagine producers of movies or other TV shows allowing him to do that.
 
It would not surprise me to see Welling go the David Schwimmer post-TV route. Take a few roles here and there, but focus primarily on behind the camera work.

Depends on the actor. Kruek, that chick who plays Chloe, and while he has improved Welling still sucks as an actor. Rosenbaum, Glover, and the guy who played Pa Kent were awesome.
 
Routh will get bit role(Zach and Miri) and some indie projects

Welling is stuck in tv land for who knows how long with Smallville. He'll get a steady stream of cash from Smallville for the next 20 or so years.

but yeah unless Welling makes "Cheap Fog by the dozen" I don't see him headlining any movie anytime soon.

I'm not blaming him for it; I'd probably be just like him if I were an actress. I'm just saying that losing your privacy is the price of fame and I don't think he wants it that bad.
