Damn, sometimes you people get on my mother****ing nerves. It's really jarring to have someone blurt out a fragment of a conversation right in your face when you're just walking by, and minding your own business. I've been trying to be more patient with people's bad habits lately, but this just really irritates me. The next time someone does this, I swear I'm going to respond.

Ha! I know the feeling. We have parents that come into our Parent/Teacher meetings with those things on...It's rude, because they always answer them right in the middle, and the calls aren't even important.

I was at Taco Bell the other day and some woman was in line ahead of me just blabbing away while the kid was trying to take her order. You could tell he was getting annoyed. How hard is it to say "hold on a minute, I'm about to order food"...:whatever:

Sometimes that's not always the case with me. If i'm talking to a parent about their kid, I need their attention. It's not like I can say "Yo SHMUCK, get off your phone."

The last time I even asked a parent to turn off their cell phone, they coped an attitude and said they needed it for emergencies. Right, cause ordering pizza cause you're fat and lazy constitutes as an important call.:whatever:

I hate them. :cmad:

I work At Starbucks and I also in store and drive thru.... thses people are so damn rude......its annoying as hell

It's even ruder to have a person on a Cell Phone without the hands free thing plow into the back of your mother's car totaling it and sending her to the hospital. And on top of that counter suing when even the investigating officer on the scene said it was the Cell Phone user's fault the accident happened. This was way before the Cell Phone laws here in New York.

I havn't got a real problem with them, I just think they look stupid. In many instances it's just some office clerk or something similer using them to "look" important, but unfortunatly for them they just come across arrogant and up themselves. The only excuse for using them things is if you're in a car, a lot of taxi drivers use them and thats what it was invented for IMO.

i don't see what's wrong with people talking on the go. They'd only be on their handsets if not on their headsets...

yea but why can't they just lift the phone to their ears? i know it doesn't apply to everyone but when i see someone walking down the road talking into their earpiece it makes me think that they think they are really important. the hands free was invented for use in a car , thats where it should stay IMO.

I don't mind them using those things, what I gate are the *****e bags who just wear them all day like someone is always wanting to call them.

I actually have no problem with these folks, except, when they are trying to carry on a conversation while I am trying to help them. See, I work in sales, and there are numerous times when people will answer they're phone, not just with the bluetooth, while I'm working with them. I simply put everything on hold, even if they ask me to continue. I simply tell them, "No, it's ok. I'll wait."

The things look stupid, is my problem. Looks like they're growing a cybernetic implant. :down

I guess I don't get out much 'cause I haven't had any experiences that have made me want to go on a murderous rampage...yet. What does bother me is I sometimes think they're talking to me, especially if it's a hot guy. Then I realize, no, no they're not. :csad: :cmad:

Yesterday I could've used a headset, trying to talk on the phone while fumbling with grocery bags is tough.

yea i don't mind it when they are used for PRACTICAL situations. I just hate the people that appear to wear them to look "cool". well infact they don't look cool, they look like a muppet! :)

Exactly! It's like, are you talking to me, right now? Or are you talking into the phone? It drives me nuts!

Ignore them.
No, you can't really ignore someone when they're speaking at you, unless you're wearing earplugs or you're just completely detached from what's going on around you. For that moment, they've grabbed your attention. Since you're the person nearest to them, or the only person around, you naturally assume that they're addressing you. Sure, you can just shrug it off and keep walking, which is what we all do. But it's still very annoying and rude.

Well, that's just plain criminal negligence. That goes way beyond what I'm talking about. I'm sorry to hear that your mother was hurt because of something like this.

Guilty as charged.:csad: I only notice what I need to and filter everything else out. I never use my phone in front of a crowd though. I agree with you that it's annoying and perhaps even disrespectful, but you can't do anything about it. If you get frustrated and try to tell people about it, they'll probably just sneer, cop an attitude, and blame you.

Hahaha. I know how you feel. I had that happen to me a few times and I felt very embarrassed.

I wouldn't call it criminal. Thoughtless? Yeah. Inappropriate? Yep. Still, trying to ignore it is the best solution. You cannot change anyone's opinion. Even if they agree with you, they might argue with you out of pride, anger, etc. . .

Let it go. Listen to your I-pod. Text a friend. Get your mind off of it in a way that suits you.

I work in the music department of a retail store. There was a woman one day with her headset in, talking away. Suddenly she turns, looks straight at me, and walks up to the desk like she has a question.

The whole time she is going, "Yeah, what's that song. Yeah, the one on the radio." Mind you, she is still starring me in the eye. It's obvious that she isn't talking to me so I stand there. Then she goes, "Yeah, the one that I told you I liked. Relient K."

So I stand there and wait and the woman suddenly looks at me angry, gets an attitude and says, "I said Relient K!"

The "relient k" part was evidently pointed at me.

How the heck was I suppose to know when the conversation switched over to me?

They actually have posted signs in certain stores saying that when you come up to the counter, please stay off your phone.

In my experience, usually when I call someone out when they're wrong, they admit to it. Same goes for me. If someone points out something that I'm doing wrong, then I apologize and correct my behavior.

I've had numerous times when someone was walking towards me, and I didn't see the headset in their ear. Just as they came near me, they spoke to the person on the line. I can understand if it's an accident. If I do something that might be rude or inconsiderate to someone, then I apologize, just out of common courtesy and respect. These people just keep on walking and talking, or whatever the case may be.

I wouldn't call it criminal.
I'm talking about reckless driving, here.

Let it go. Listen to your I-pod. Text a friend. Get your mind off of it in a way that suits you.
My mind will be more at ease if I address the problem with the people who are causing it, than it will be if I just do nothing.

:huh::huh::huh:

Why is this an issue? You have problems with how people speak into their cells? Hands-free is just more productive, if you're doing something else with your hands. Even if you're not, it's easier to just talk into a microphone without having to hold something against your ear.

I have an iPhone with a microphone attached to the earbuds, so I'm almost always answering my cell hands-free. After a few weeks into it, I can't imagine answering a cell any other way.

I was very frightened a few years ago of a guy who got off his motorcycle in a parking lot and walked around talking to himself with his helmet on as I was sitting on my trunk waiting for friends. Then he said 'talk to you later, bye' and I figured it out. :csad: I hadn't previously known they made built-in headsets in helmets.

Most of the people in my office have wireless headsets for their work phones. It's nice to be able to get away from your desk and grab your lunch or something when you're on a long conference call. However, there's this one guy in my office who used to walk up and down the row of cubicles we're in and talks loud as hell. He'd pace back and forth in front of my cube when he's talking and even stops in the entrance to people's cubes, where they are trying to work or have their own phone conversations, to have his phone conversations. It's highly annoying and most of us in the office at one point or another had asked him to stop doing it but he ignored us and was even snotty about it with a few folks. So, we staged an "intervention" of sorts. We waited until we knew he was on an important call and then everyone in the office got on their headsets and started pacing up and down the aisle while talking into their headsets. A few of us went and sat down in his cube to have our phone conversations. He got extremely pissed off. We all flipped him off with big smiles on our faces. He put his phone conference on hold, finally, and started laughing and goes "Okay! Okay! I get it! I'm sorry! I won't do it anymore!". That was about six months ago and he's starting to do it again. We may need to punish him some more.
