This movie is never going to happen, inside sources say that WB and Silver Pictures do not feel the film will make any money and the public opinion has shifted dramatically.
Joss leaving indicates that this film is dead in the water.
WB will most likely shelf this picture in the next few weeks.

*Also noted that Joel and WB have moved onto Speed Racer with the Wachowski's (The Matrix, who have now moved back to the WB lot) and have several other projects lines up following that.
Whether Joss or anyone else dropped out has no impact, the film is about to be shelved anyway.

So that its off the market. By taking the spec script off the market, it aims to protect itself against the possibility that any similarities between the scripts could be fodder for future legal action.

Means nothing.

Although from what I've heard its a very good script for newcomer writers.

yeah, I'm calling bulls#!t on this one.

Call it all you want.
Perhaps it will collect dust for a few more years and when they have no other superheros to worry about they'll get the project moving again.

At least it wont happen anytime soon..

The market has no room for another superhero, comic book character on film. Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Hulk, Fantastic Four, X-Men not to mention Sin City, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and Transformers.
The entire spectrum of films as a whole has to change before anymore superhero, comic book type characters can be unleashed. No Wonder Woman, no Flash, no Green Lantern, no Capt. Marvel. They will all fail and the studios know it.
There is only one way to get these films made. Without having to wait 10-15years for the others to run their course. The main problem is that the general audience is being bombarded with Superheroes. Superheroes are good in all but the common man likes someone he/she can relate to, i.e. John McClane. This is one reason why ticket sales continue to drop and prices continue to rise.
Their are two ways to change this and maybe get those other heroes in 6-7 years. One is to stop with all the franchises. The stories are pointless and without direction. That is why Star Wars and LOTR are classics and Spiderman... is not. They knew their would be three movies, they knew the ending, parts 2 and three weren't done for financial gain but simply to finish the story. That is not likely to happen...
The second option is give the audience what they want, what they really want... DEAD CATS, DEAD RATS, THINK YOUR AN ARISTOCRAT!!!

Sorry that's my other personality coming out. The public likes BIG THINGS, they like TO BE A PART, they like to FEEL NEEDED, they like DISORDER AND CHAOS, they want SOMETHING NEW, they want the APOCALYPSE NOW, movies and America in general need this...

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero
vs.
Satans Unholy Legions: COBRA

LETS GET READY TO
RUMBLE!!!

:hyper: ... too bad, hoping for Linda Carter to be her mother,Catherine Zeta Jones to be WW with Jennifer Tilly to play the villanness. If I watch it for more than 30 minutes,I might have a crisis in my pants!

I'm updating this thread's title to "Rumor" because technically it really is speculation at this point. If and/or when this becomes true I will update it accordingly.

It's pretty clear that WW and Flash are on the fast track, to me.

Though the question "are there too many superheroes" is relevant, much can be said about Superheroes that we CAN relate to.

Like G.I. Joe:woot:

Hey Im all for superhero movies, I love going to see them. Im only going by what I hear on the Lot and friends who work in production. Your not going to find links to that kind of info online.

They always have a professional stance on all media questions.
I think WW will see the light of day in a few years im sure, but right now, its not going to happen.

The flash is a great concept and David Goyars storyboards were fantastic, im sad to hear he has left the project.
Studios are so uptight now a days, I think the fans should make the films, there the ones who understand exactly what kind of superhero films we want to see.

If you really work for WB, maybe you can answer this question, since I don't understand the whole deal..

How could anyone take legal action against the WB over a Wonder Woman script? WW is a copyrighted character; owned by...Warner. If anything, aren't the script writers commiting infringment?

Words of Joss Whedon: "You (hopefully) heard it here first: I'm no longer slated to make Wonder Woman. What? But how? My chest... so tight! Okay, stay calm and I'll explain as best I can. It's pretty complicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.

Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work. Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don't think any of us expected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk. I like to think it rolled around the rim a little bit, but others may have differing views.

The worst thing that can happen in this scenario is that the studio just keeps hammering out changes and the writer falls into a horrible limbo of development. These guys had the clarity and grace to skip that part. So I'm a free man.

Well, sorta. There is that "Goners" movie I can finally finish polishing, and plenty of other things in the hopper I've wanted to pursue. I'm as relieved as I am disappointed, and both of those things lead to drink, so that's a plus. Truly, you may be hearing some interesting things brewing in the coming months. But all potential jets therein will be visible.

But most importantly, I never have to answer THAT question again!!!! And you don't have to link to every rumor site! Finally and forever: I never had an actress picked out, or even a consistant front-runner. I didn't have time to waste on casting when I was so busy air-balling on the script. (No! Rim! There was rim!) That's the greatest relief of all. I can do interviews again!

Thanks for your time. You are the people who make the world go 'round. Or, no, science does that.

ps All right, it was Cobie Smulders. Sorry, Cobes. "

That's letting a suicidal drive the car pool.

If this is true, theyve made the right decision. Wonder Woman would be a failure like all other female superhero films. There just isnt enough appeal for it.

If you really do work for WB, Flash, Shazam and Green Lantern are the way to go.

I work at WB but I am no means a executive or anything. I just have worked here for close to 7 years and know alot of friendly folks here on the lot.
Mostly production ,and I have two good friends who work directly with David Goyar and Joel Silver.
I have no idea about legal issues, copyrights etc.
They went ahead and put out Catwoman though noone wanted to see it, but are having trouble with WW?

At least they got Batman right, and with filming now taking place, I look forward to the Dark Knight. I am going to find out if they are replacing Katie Holmes or writing out the character. To me, she is not required for the sequel. I'd rather see Vicky Vale.

But who knowns WW could find its way, Superman was in limbo for over ten years and finally got made, so theres hope yet. I personally don't think its a great idea to make WW though. I'd rather see a new Supergirl etc.

It took 200 mil to make a decent Superman film with all the effects. Do you honestly think they'll waste 200 mil on a SuperGIRL film after the last one tanked so bad that even DC comics killed her off??
