It depends on if they get viable DNA. If so then yeah, we can have mammoths again.

I'm not sure it's that simple. What would carry the mammoth fetus? An elephant?

On a side note, scientists have eaten mammoth steaks before. I wonder how it tastes. Personally I think species should be revived for culinary reasons. Let's work on the Dodo next. :o

Yes they would use an elephant to carry the fetus.

    A Mammoth isn't a de-evolved elephant.

I've read mammoth isn't exactly that great either. Then again 10,000 years of freezer-burn would do that.

Um. If they jurassic park this ****, I will devote my life to buying and domesticating a mammoth so I can ride it.

So what are the odds we'll kill and eat these things to share something in common with our ancestors.

If they manage to accomplish this, I feel their next project would be a sabertooth tiger to revive next .

They're already working on it. That's why we have Spike TV.

They can't just go recreating mammoths. The food chain has adapted to their absence. Maybe for Zoos with controlled feeding.

I doubt anyone plans to release a cloned mammoth back into the wild.

I'm sure John Hammond didn't plan for the park to break down either.

Thankfully, prehistoric mammals isn't something we haven't dealt with before. A loose smilodon is just a loose predatory cat. Not sure how equipped we are for a pack of loose velociraptors or a deinychous though.

People will get bored with them, poachers will slaughter the last ones, and some pimp will end up wearing them as a fur coat.

    Thank you science.
