Doug Liman?

Neil Blomkamp?

Antoine Fuqua?

Who's your choice?

I'm already envisioning this as a Neil Blomkamp movie.

The Hughes bros. if they can get back together.

I'll post my list again, Id get excited eith any of these directors:

Doug Liman
Matt Reeves
Neil Blomkamp
Paul Greengrass

Marvel is not going to hire Hudlin to direct. I'm certain of that. The man is B talent at best who got lucky and landed some good gigs. Most of his work has been on TV. He's only directed a couple of films. I think House Party and Boomerang are probably his most notable ones. Both were out in the early 90's. He's done a lot of tv shows. I don't see Marvel hiring him to direct. That would be god awful.

I really hope Marvel don't fall into the trap, especially with fear of being pressured to hire a black director. I can think of some people with agendas for personal gain stirring up trouble racially to make money off Marvel by shoehorning themselves onto this production or guys like Sharpton getting involved and riling up black people for his own agenda if a white director is on board. I just hope Marvel ignores the rabble rousers.

Like all the guys mentioned, a lil on the fence about Greengrass. Fuqua would be good too. I like the suggesting of both Justin Lin and James Wan that some mentioned. My top pick would be Neil Blomkamp though.

Nokio I truly hope they don't pick Hudlin but he is a self-promoter, worked on the character on many different levels, already tweeting pics of himself with a Russo holding his book, during the conference Feige made a comment about meeting with 'Reg' soon... And your argument that he is a b talent is irrelevant.
Just look at the Russos, Alan Taylor, Jon Favreau, Scot Derikson, hell Joss Whedon. All were previously directors of either tv or movies that wouldn't make you think they'd be suited for a Marvel project...

It isn't looking good.
This is the time to try and campaign against the hack before he ruins a very important movie.

He'll probably denounce anyone against him as doing so because of his race which really has nothing to do with him being crap, just a tactic to make people fear opposing him tainting the MCU with his vision.

I still think neil blompkamp would be amazing for this but I seem to be the only one.

I also think Lee daniels (precious) is talented enough and ready now to go mainstream so I would love him to be considered.

Ultimately though I'm not too worried because the directors tend to be puppet governments for marvel anyway and they know what needs doing

The other 4 people in the thread who've suggested him would imply you're not the only one, Silvermoth. :)

He's probably the most popular choice so far.

Antoine Fuqua would be a good choice. I kind of want the Russos to do it. Obviously, they are bringing him to the screen first and play a part in how he is portrayed. They are also the people who probably cast Boseman. There's about a 1.5 between Cap 3 and BP, so not sure about the overlap, if they'd be able to start BP on time. If the can, they should.

Well he is a B talent who got lucky. i stand by that. All the guys you mentioned were tv directors at one point or small obscure movies. Just because someone hasn't made it to big time doesn't mean they aren't as talented as a notable director. This is not the case with Hudlin at all. I won't go into a rant about the man but he isn't the one to direct or write BP. As for him tweeting pics and such so what. That means nothing. He probably is happy that they are doing a movie. I've seen Hudlin in interviews and such and he seems to be a likable guy, funny and knowledgable but I'm not a fan of his BP run and I think he's a so so talent. He was one of team that ran the Bet network into the gutter with trashy shows and removing all programming of quality when it was sold and a new management was brought in.

To offer a counter point if he is brought on as director I think it's safe to say that it won't be his vision for BP. Marvel and Fegie will set the vision and he's going to have to follow it. All these Marvel films are like pieces of a puzzle. They aren't going to allow him(at least I hope) to turn BP into a pro black power man fantasy with political and social issues that aren't meant for this type of film and have no place what so ever in Wakanda. It'll turn off a lot of the mainstream as well as international audiences. I'm not expecting a Django unchained version of BP.

As for Feige commenting on meeting with him didn't someone ask about Hudlin as opposed to Feige just outright announcing him? An unfortunate thing about white Hollywood is they don't understand black culture and probably think we're all the same world wide. This is what would be a problem that I could see. Thinking they could just put black people in entertainment who have had some success on to this project and not seeing that everyone is not fit for this style of movie. This is the same Hollywood thinking that cast Halle Berry as Storm cause they were thinking we just need a black actress in their minds as opposed to looking for a black actress who is right for the part. My biggest fear is BP and Wakanda becoming to Americanized by black Hollywood, because it's probably what all these people only know.

I don't think Marvel is going to hire him at all. I really wish they would honestly get who's best for the job. It would be such a cliche to put a black director on this film because the character is black when they should put one on like Fuqua who is actually a very capable and good director and him being black is second. I think it'll be Fuqua if they do indeed go with a black director. Other smaller ones like Lee Daniels or Steve Maqueen should be on their radar.

What about Matt Reeves? Timing could be a problem but he'd be an interesting pick

Feige was specifically asked at the press conference if race & gender would affect the writer/director choices for BP & CM, he said no and that they'll hire whoever they think is the best for the job.

Can we not let Hudlin within 500 yards of this movie, better yet 500 miles? His BP run was godawful. How about Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) or Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes)?
