Describe your dream Green Lantern film. Name the director, which GL, and star!

James Marsden as Hal and Shemar Moore as John Stewart.

Jake Gyllenhaal or Kevin Zegers.

If Hal's around the same age as Barry Allen (for bro-rom purpose), then Frank Dillane or Liam Aiken.

DC vs Marvel ;)

I think Liam Hemsworth is a bit young for Hal Jordan but hey why not. We have an older Batman and young Flash, might as well have a young GL, too.

I'll always look at Liam as the "Chris Penn" of the Hemsworth clan, but I suppose you could do worse. He's pretty good in the Hunger Games movies and would probably be a draw for female viewers. If you want to go with someone from that series though, I think Sam Caflin would be a better fit for Hal. He's more charismatic and has a better screen presence.

Chris Penn was way too awesome to ever be compared to Liam Hemsworth. Hemsworth is more like William Baldwin, the same basic feel, but a huge downgrade.

Haha, true. Chris Penn at least gave us two iconic characters in Nice Guy Eddie and Willard Hewitt. William Baldwin gave us Backdraft and... um... Fair Game.

At least Billy actually got to play (voice) Batman.

He did? I never knew that.

Although I remember Alec voicing the hero in that really bad Final Fantasy movie and the character looked like he was modeled on Ben Affleck. So that's kinda sorta not at all the same thing.

Yeah, William Baldwin voices Batman in one of DC's animated movies. The one about the Crime Syndicate.

If we don't get a Suicide Squad sequel for a while, I want Ayer to direct this

Training Day (a movie he wrote) is basically the template for the Hal/Stro conflict

Hal Jordan: Jake Gyllenhaal
John Stewart: Michael B Jordan

Green Lantern should be more Lethal Weapon than Training Day.

I don't like the choice of Director but if this cast happens, it's gonna be SICK! Maybe an Alex Garland or a Duncan Jones.

LOL, yeah. Unless you're going to have Hal turn evil at the end of the first movie, I don't think Training Day is the right blueprint for GL. Now, I suppose it could be if it's just a Hal/Sinestro story. But I'd prefer a Lethal Weapon-type approach.

Seeing Oscar Isaac in hotshot pilot mode for Star Wars got me thinking about him as Hal Jordan. I know he's already in X-Men, but I don't give a **** about X-Men.

Isaac is an inspired choice. And he's unrecognizable in X-Men anyway, so yeah, maybe WB would go after him for Hal. Then again, he's already tied to two franchises so it might be tough.

I guess it isn't as much of a popular choice anymore, but I really want Guillermo del Toro to direct a Green Lantern movie. I think that his unique eye for visuals would help with the world-building that a galactic adventure needs.

What I'd prefer is to use Rebirth to jump right into an already established Green Lantern story, the way that we jump right into Batman's career with Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. By using multiple high-profile characters, WB can identify who to push in the future based on the audiences reception.

I posted my cast in the casting thread (also reposted below).

I'd base my Green Lantern Corps movie on a condensed version of Rebirth.

Hal Jordan: James Marsden

Kyle Rayner: Ian Somerhalder

John Stewart: Idris Elba

Oliver Queen: Charlie Hunnam

Kilowag: Ron Pearlman

Sinestro: Luke Evans

Ganthet: Peter Dinklage

Guy Gardner: Joel McHale

Not really a fan of that cast at all besides John and Ollie

But I am a fan of using Rebirth as a starting point. I like the idea of there being assumed history with GL, just like the new Batman

My current cast would be

Hal Jordan: Matt Damon
John Stewart: Idris Elba
Guy Gardner: Aaron Paul
Kilowog: Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sinestro: Viggo Mortensen
Star Sapphire: Jessica Chastain

And Guillermo Del Toro as director could be something really special!

Right?! GDT FTW!

Aaron Paul was in my head for Hal and Kyle, I never really thought of him as Guy because of his smaller stature. I also saw Need for Speed (which really wasn't his fault).

I'd be down with Del Toro as long as he doesn't bail on it right before it goes into production, lol.

And if he keeps Charlie Hunnam the hell away from it. I swear, that guy is like a vacuum cleaner who sucks all the charisma out of the room whenever he appears on screen. He was dull as hell in Pacific Rim and his performance in Crimson Peak was laughable abysmal.

Haha! Hunnam is actually my pick for Ollie. I think that he better fits the newer "Arrow" (Batman) style of the character. If we were looking for someone a little more lighthearted and closer to the Timm-verse, I'd have to go another direction.

He was charismatic like comicbook ollie in pacific rim.. plus he's an actor so he can do that .lool.

I'm just thinking about being a bit more quippy. I may be painting him into a corner though just because of what I've seen him in.

Not sure who I'd pick for Hal right now, still love Idris Elba for John Stewart.
As for Director... well for me there's only one to go for... after he successfully relaunched Star Wars and Star Trek - J.J. Abrahms.
