You can see the review I made for this in my sig, so I won't go on and on...

But overall, decent movie worth a watch because of Reynold's and Washington's performances.

Movie was better than I expected. It's a pretty straightforward and mainstream action/spy/setup movie and doesn't try to give you anything other than that.

Ryan Reynolds was probably at his best in this I'd say too. He has to bring a lot of range and emotion in this movie and he really pulls it off.

movie looks decent but i feel this is a movie i would rather see at home than in theaters

As a South African what bugged me is when Ryan started speaking afrikaans as if we dont understand English lol

I really enjoyed this one. Hopefully this helps Reynolds get back on his feet after Green Lantern.

Denzel is just...Denzel.

Right on.

The movie was great. Predictable but that didn't stop my enjoyment. Reynolds was great, the most serious I've ever seen him and I hope he does more movies like this.

Denzel is still the man. :awesome:

He's got a few interesting action projects lined up, like Motorcade and an untitled buddy cop movie with Bradley Cooper.

Well, this movie performed pretty well over the weekend. I definitely want to see it because I really like all of the actors in it and the premise looks fun. Glad to see that it held its own against Channing Tatum's latest attempt to "act."

I liked it quite a bit. But I wish someone like Brian Helgeland took a look at Denzel's dialogue in the film, there wasn't anything wrong with what was there, but they could've added some legendary "Forgiveness is between them and God, it's my job to arrange the meeting" type quotes.

Overall totally recommended night at the cinema with some friends.

I saw it on Tuesday, as with most things starring Denzel as a wizened smarter than everyone in the room character, it was easy to watch. I also thought Reynolds did a good job, getting the balance between out of his depth but skilled enough to be resourceful, just right. His facial expressions in some of the films more brutal scenes were very realistic.

The action was solid but fairly basic and aped the Bourne movies a bit, I think the chase sequence was the highlight in that regard. The story is very simple and if you don't guess who the traitor is within ten minutes then you really need to see more movies. :oldrazz:

One thing I did like was that Tobin Frost (Denzel) remained the same morally grey character right up to the bitter end.

7/10

This movie was better than I thought it would be. I didn't have high hopes for it.

The plot was very predictable. I could guess what was going to happen next everytime and I was a hundred percent right.

Denzel and Reynolds were solid despite their roles being cliche as were Irish journey men actors Brendan Gleeson and Liam Cunningham.

Denzel can still pull off the action roles despite the fact his pushing 60.

Nice little roles for Robert Patrick and Vera Farmiga. The CIA elements did feel a little Jason Bounre inspired.

I liked seeing a Hollywood movie set in South Africa makes a change instead of another LA based movie.

Very predictable, meh storyline, I got bored. I felt that Frost was made out to be this memetic badass who will manipulate and destroy your life, but i didnt get that from the character. He said basically what most villains say in a movie when they're captured

Good fist fights, good performances (Dat Denzel).

Meh movie. I probably wouldnt watch it again unless I had nothing else to do, but it's not a terrible movie

I'd be keen for it. 2 Safe 2 House. Maybe get Idris Elba as Frost's son trying to find Matt?

One thing though, we need a better physical villain than the other guy we got, someone who maybe feels like a hunter, instead of just a goon with a scowl on his face.

If there is another one, I think I would like to see them go the sequel route. I would like to see Reynolds play this role again. He did such a good job with the character.

Mind you, is he still with the agency after what he did at the end?
Is denzel's character really dead? I mean, we didn't see him get buried did we. ;)

If Denzel is dead. Then bring in his still alive Twin Brother

There are two possibilities...

ONE: Tobin Frost isn't dead, he predicted what was coming and came prepared. He made Reynolds think he did die because he was testing him to see what he would do.

TWO: Further into the whole story, Reynolds unleashing the evidence winds him in even bigger trouble and he has to get to the bottom of things which involves seeing Tobin Frost in a couple of flashback sequences.

So we are settled with 'Safe Houses' and '2 Safe 2 House' so far for titles.

A Good Day to Safe House

What I said on another forum;

What I like about this, is that a meat and potatoes action film, clearly made as a solo film, was a sleeper hit and is getting a sequel. Kind of like how most 80's franchises where born. These days everything, based on whatever brand name, is bred to be a franchise, it'll be good to see some original (original enough anyway) characters get their own world.

When we get to Safe House In Space, it'll probably be time to call it quits.

Pleasantly surprised by the film. I thought Reynolds did a very good job and showed, IMO, that he could be a good leading man (and action star) if given the right stuff. He played it serious, wasn't a goof-ball... very good. And Denzel... he's just awesome.

Overall, a solid 7/10. Not great, but the two leads made the film work :-).

Finally saw it. Thought it was pretty good. The scene where Frost walks past the hallway and shoots without looking was  worthy, heh heh.
