What is the saddest scene ever in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

None of the ones in the poll come close to Yinsen dying in Iron Man
Tony Stark: We gotta go. Come on, move with me. We got a plan, and we're going to stick to it.
Yinsen: This was always the plan, Stark...
Tony Stark: Come on, you're going to go see your family. Get up.
Yinsen: My family is dead, Stark... and I'm going to see them now. It's okay, I want this... I want this.
[Stark is silent for a moment]
Tony Stark: Thank you for saving me.
Yinsen: Don't waste it... don't waste your life, Stark.

Or the beginning of Guardians with Peter's mom dying.
Or even Stark trying to call Pepper to say goodbye in The Avengers

Groot and Cap: I knew they would come back so those didnt move me that much especially the Cap one. And Stark blowing up his armors didnt mean much because I knew he'd have one in the future. They were all nice scenes though

I'm going to go with Stark's sacrificing himself in Avengers.

Yinsen's death is still probably the saddest, followed by Peter's mom and "I'm With You To The End of The Line" Out of those listed, I'd go with Groot's "death". Despite knowng he would be back, I'll amit teared up a little bit.

Gosh, I voted for the Groot scene, but I forgot about Yinsen. Yes that was the saddest.

Groot protecting the rest of the Guardians hit me way more than I expected it too.

Yinsen
Peggy and Steve
Bucky and Cap
We are Groot

They were all sad but Quills mom dying of Cancer and him watching her go hit too close to home for me.

Agent Coulson getting stabbed in the chest during Avengers. My daughter cried. Of course, Agents of Shield is now her favorite show.

Peter's mom dying and Cap saying goodbye to Peggy

Even though there are more obvious sad moments, one that really got me emotional was when Betty sees Bruce on the road in the rain after all those years. Not exactly sad but it got a lump in my throat.

From the order as they appeared:

- Yinsin death scene

- Peggy going through Rogers files and seeing a picture of him pre-serum.

- Rogers visiting Peggy at the retirement home.

- Quill's mom death scene

- Groot's sacrifice

Captain America visiting an aged Carter with dementia in the Hospital in Winter Soldier.

Cap telling Bucky "I'm with you till the end of the line" as he prepares for his death in winter soldier, as well as the flashback scene of Steve's parent's funeral of which that line alludes to

Groot's sacrifice really hit me, but I don't know that I would call it a sad scene because I knew he'd come back. I think it was just emotional because it showed how much the group had bonded and how much they all meant to him. It was a tearjerker but not exactly sad.

I'd probably put Coulsen's death up there, because that was one death I thought would stick. I'm not criticizing Marvel for bringing him back but I think that if they would have let him stay dead, that Avengers scene would have more impact on repeat viewings.

Peter Quill's mother's death scene was really rough to watch. I'd probably say that is the saddest scene yet in any MCU film.

Cap and Peggy's goodbye
Cap visiting old Peggy
Yinsen dying
Coulson
Stark Calling Pepper
Frigga's funeral
Groooot

them's all the moments that gave me the feels

and it doesn't matter if we know people are coming back, the moments can still be impactful
it wasn't "OMG Cap's dead!" that made that moment in TFA sad, it was that these two people, who had grown very close through tough times and were finally moving to a new level with their relationship, will never see each other again, never get to have their dance, never get to fight together (and never lose the big V, in Steve's case, lol)
same with Groot, we all knew he'd grow back, but that doesn't make Rocket's anguish any less sad in that moment

knowing they come back is a bigger detriment in the comics where solicits spoil everything 6 months ahead and it robs deaths of their agency

In TIH at the end of the final battle when Hulk and Betty are having a moment then the spotlight from the helicopter beams on him. The look that Hulk gives is just pure fed up of being chased, he's tired and just wants to stop running, it was so sad to see that he couldn't.

OT: I know Ruffalo HUlk is off with the Avengers and whatnot but they really need to bring in or at least mention Betty. He's not running anymore there's no reason not too.
I still think they had one of the better love stories in the MCU other than Cap/Peggy

For me it has to be the death of Coulson in the avengers but honourable mention definitely goes to captain america's conversation with Peggy. It's so sad because you can see he has been dealing with her Alzheimer's quietly without telling anyone what the effect of that on his mental health has been as well as for poor peggy

If we're talking the whole MCU including Agents of Shield, then it was pretty sad when Ward just missed out on getting laid with Skye. They were so good together. :(
