Some Wikipedia Information about SWT:

Salt water taffy is a kind of taffy originally produced and marketed in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area beginning in the late 19th century.

The origins of the name are unknown. It could be because the recipe for the candy contains both salt and water. The most popular, although probably apocryphal, story concerns a candy-store owner whose shop was flooded during a major storm in 1883. His entire stock of taffy was soaked with salty Atlantic Ocean water. When a customer asked if he had any taffy for sale, he is said to have offered some "salt water taffy."

Whatever the origins, Joseph Fralinger popularized the candy by boxing it and selling it as an Atlantic City souvenir. His company is still one of the largest retailers of salt water taffy.

Fralinger's first major competition came from candymaker Enoch James, who refined the recipe, making it less sticky and easier to unwrap. James also cut the candy into bite-sized pieces, and is credited with mechanizing the "pulling" process.

In the early 1920s, John Edmiston obtained a trademark for the name "original salt water taffy," then demanded royalties from companies using his newly-acquired name. He was sued over this demand, and in 1923, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that the phrase had been in common use too long to claim royalties.

I love Salt Water Taffy. When I was Atlantic City, I got some taffy but I packed it in my mom's suitcase and forgot to unpack it. And, rather than save it for me, which would have been right since I paid for it, she ate it.

I guess she thinks I owe her for that whole 7 1/2 months in the womb thing.

perhaps you could get some delivered some time dew.

Its too expensive to ship it cross country

i think it's further out of my reach than yours.

Love the stuff. One of my co-workers gets some all the time and brings in a big box of it.

It does not last very long. :O

Never had it, but every time someone talks about my mouth waters. They make it sound good. I've never seen it for sale over here though :(

Good stuff. As someone who regularly frequents the Jersey Shore (though not Atlantic City) I've eaten a good deal of it over the years.

That picture makes my mouth water.

:drooooling: DANG IT!!!!!! I want taffy now, but............too lazy..........to go.............get some.............. :( Good stuff, good stuff.
