Why not ban knives? Because no matter the culture and time period, no government has been able to ban knives or any edged weapons successfully. Hell, most deadly hand to hand combat was developed because a local government or provence tried to ban straight edge weapons.

This sounds like some legislators misguided attempt to put his finger into a leaking dike. If people can't find a gun, they will use a knife. If they can't use a knife, they will use blunt weapons or their damn hands.

So, how is banning Samurai swords going to stop knife attacks? I've never read about someone being attacked by a Samurai swords in Ireland, just knifes....Shouldn't they ban knifes?

its not ireland, but a few months ago, this 18 year old kid was stabbed in the face with a sword for talking to some dudes wife near me.

granted, it happened in a local trailer park, but still...
