San Diego Comic-Con International 2009

I'm not sure why they're talking with Moore, because the way I had heard it, Moore gave his rights to MarvelMan to Gaimen...

Though it's hilarious that nobody is talking to McFarlane... :woot: :woot: :woot:

:yay:

sure one year to the next big event but dont forget the 6 months of build up to the event

wait, you're telling me Comic-Con has something to do with comics?

:p

Frankly I don't give 2 ****s about marvelman/miracleman

Marvel probably could have had...ROM SPACEKNIGHT, MICRONAUGHTS, and CONAN back for a lesser total. ( maybe throw in godzilla too)

Gay Marvel pandering to the trendy comic quasi-intellectual fair fan....

Miracleman and Alan Moore are overrated city.

zero interest...

I could use some of those aforementioned franchises back in the Marvel U... heck, I read them all as a kid...

...BUT... I also read the original run of MiracleMan from Eclipse... and it was a very good read... in spite of the creator's names behind it and the anal licking fans that now follow them...

You can hate them, but don't hate the work... it was good.

:yay:

I've always wondered what all the hand wringing by Gaiman, fans, etc. has been about concerning this property. But I suppose fans who never read Rom would feel the same way. If they did a minseries like TMOB suggested, I would probably pick it up (although, it would be mostly because TMOB's recommendation has slightly more pull than Moore's pretentiousness, which is becoming one of the most tiresome things in the comics industry.)

IF you ever get the chance to read Moore's Miracleman, just remember to put the time frame into context and that it originally saw print in 1982 in the UK, and then 1985 in North America... in MY opinion, it still stands out, but comics have become a LOT darker in the last 25 years... this work was one of the pioneers...

Miracleman is amazing. Read it.

Bendis revealed that he wanted to use Magneto in the Cabal instead of Emma Frost....GOD DAMMIT :cmad:

Dark Reign : ARES with GILLEN and NORD....now that is SOMTHING!

Bendis revealed that he wanted to use Magneto in the Cabal instead of Emma Frost....GOD DAMMIT :cmad:
That's been known since the Cabal was initially introduced; since Magneto was already in use, Fraction suggested they do a story with Emma instead.

*Hulk spoiler* - At the end of 600, Bruce Banner can no longer become the Hulk. This means Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk and Skaar lead to the inevitable . . World War Hulks. A major character will die in the World War Hulks : Gamma line that will kick off the war.

This has actually made my decision to NOT pick up Incredible Hulk after Skaar comes for me. I enjoyed Skaar's book very much from a Cosmic point of view and hated that he came back to Earth. I was debating on continuing with Hulk hoping that it's temparary but it just seems like Skaar is becoming just another mainline Hulk character so I think I'm done with him. I'll continue with the obsurdly named Son of Hulk book though for the cosmic ties.

Ben Reilly may or may not be coming back. There is an upcoming story – Who Was Ben Reilly?, but that doesn’t mean the character is returning.

As a Clone Fan I'll pick these up to support Ben, but I'm off once the arc is finished which, thankfully, is only a few issues.

Joe asked the Comic-Con audience if they would rather have Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes as the Captain America. The audience jeered louder for Bucky.

I find this funny because I imagine this was supposed to be promoting Steve's return. I don't read the monthly Cap comic (wouldn't mind it, but it's just way too decompressed for me, and I can't afford it) but just based on other stuff, I'd like to see Steve back in the flag.

There is some big cosmic news coming in about 6 weeks.

Awsome. I assume it has to do with the aftermath of War of Kings. Maybe a new series or something. I hope it's not another huge event. With 3 almost back to back I think I need a break from Cosmic events as much s I need a break from regular events. Let the titles stand on their own for while.

Dark Reign will be concluding in December.

Excellent news. I've been needing to drop titles for a while now but can't due to all the connections. With Dark Reign finishing up then maybe I can start dropping books. Should be a good point to drop the $4 priced New and Dark Avengers.

Nova is gaining in popularity and Marvel may do a big push for him within a few years.

This is good news but 'within a few years' makes me shrug. I'll be more curious when the time comes.

The Lizard will be back in February.

If I still read Spidey this would excite me. Always liked the Lizard. oh well.

If you havnt been reading cap...how can you make an informed opinion on Bucky as cap?

I really disagree with you on Cap as even remotely feeling decompressed. Brubaker is the best at making drawn out stories feel anything but. He throws in stand alone poinant issues now and then (like last issue).

I don't see how you come to that conclusion.

What... you mean I can't come to that conclusion based on Bendis' New Avengers ;)

I read about a years worth of the Captain America title right after Cap died through maybe an arc or two after Bucky took the uniform. I didnt mind it, it wasn't bad at all, but Bucky wasn't enough to hold my attention beyond that point... and I felt like the story was going nowhere fast. Maybe it was just that I was a guy with little interest in Cap at the time jumping in and trying it out, but for new reader, I found it insanely boring and stretched. I did like the Civil War issues with Steve, the death issue was okay but not as good as I was hoping, and then the rest of the run from what I read was mostly boring save for the issue directly after his death and the issue where Bucky took on the uniform. The rest just bored me really. Now if I were to start from day one so that Bucky had time to grow on me then maybe it'd been differant, but so far It did little for me. If I can get rid of some titles so I can afford another title I may give it another shot once Steve's back, but we'll see.

I would actually agree with some of your points...I'm not going to say I have no problems with the comic and that its flawless...but it sure is good IMO.

If anything I guess I am kinda tired of the artwork and subdued colors in the book. Its been effective and well executed up to now..but it just kinda gets on me over time. I sorta miss the days of vibrant colors in the book.

This steve revival is gonna be dragged out. I expect at least a year of steve "lost in time" etc.. Thats my guess.

Honestly, despite what people are saying, I'm actually looking foward to World War Hulk's.

Steve will be back within the Captain America: Reborn series which is due to end in November.

The art was actually one of the things I really liked about the run. I really liked Epting and I wouldn't mind seeing him do some of the stuff I typically read. I didn't realize until later that he did the only run of Avengers pre-disassembled that I got into... the Proctor storyline back in the 90's.
