Sandman Mystery Theatre is one of the most underrated and underappreciated Vertigo titles. Matt Wagner's writing is solid. Stories are pulp ish and pretty deep. i recommend you check it out
Also, i think golden age Sandman should have gotten his own comic on the dc relaunch
