Canadian researchers find a simple cure for cancer, but major pharmaceutical companies are not interested.

Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada have cured cancer last week, yet there is a little ripple in the news or in TV. It is a simple technique using very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is currently used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

This drug doesn’t require a patent, so anyone can employ it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs produced by major pharmaceutical companies.

Canadian scientists tested this dichloroacetate (DCA) on human’s cells; it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells and left the healthy cells alone. It was tested on Rats inflicted with severe tumors; their cells shrank when they were fed with water supplemented with DCA. The drug is widely available and the technique is easy to use, why the major drug companies are not involved? Or the Media interested in this find?

In human bodies there is a natural cancer fighting human cell, the mitochondria, but they need to be triggered to be effective. Scientists used to think that these mitochondria cells were damaged and thus ineffective against cancer. So they used to focus on glycolysis, which is less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful. The drug manufacturers focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer. This DCA on the other hand doesn’t rely on glycolysis instead on mitochondria; it triggers the mitochondria which in turn fights the cancer cells.

The side effect of this is it also reactivates a process called apoptosis. You see, mitochondria contain an all-too-important self-destruct button that can't be pressed in cancer cells. Without it, tumors grow larger as cells refuse to be extinguished. Fully functioning mitochondria, thanks to DCA, can once again die.

With glycolysis turned off, the body produces less lactic acid, so the bad tissue around cancer cells doesn't break down and seed new tumors.

Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this research because DCA method cannot be patented, without a patent they can’t make money, like they are doing now with their AIDS Patent. Since the pharmaceutical companies won’t develop this, the article says other independent laboratories should start producing this drug and do more research to confirm all the above findings and produce drugs. All the groundwork can be done in collaboration with the Universities, who will be glad to assist in such research and can develop an effective drug for curing cancer.

You can access the original research for this cancer here.

This article wants to raise awareness for this study, hope some independent companies and small startup will pick up this idea and produce these drugs, because the big companies won’t touch it for a long time.

This is why I sometimes hate capitalism

Seriously, this is a potential major find for HUMANITY, and the drug companies are being jerks because they can't make money. Shows how much they care to cure us. They're willing to let millions die so they can make a buck

This is bizarre. Do people who work for these companies not know that they could get Cancer? Or family members? They may make no money, but they'll be putting their risks and everyone's at a low rate.

Somehow I doubt the credibility of this story. It seems to me it would be in the scientific journals. Is it? Are these just preliminary findings that could easily turn into nothing?

I just need more.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

It's enough I think to warrant research at least!

Just read the comments below the article, the top two are three years old .

Yeah, i agree with Franklin, This would be all over the news. Drug companies may hate that they can't get rich off a massive find, but the news networks would be all over it.

Pretty much forcing the drug companies to take action.

This is one guy's blog. Did anyone read the link he provided to the research? Thought hopeful, it's not as conclusive as he spouts about.

EDIT: saw Whiskey's link. It's from 4 years ago. What's happened since then?

Cool. I can start smoking again :awesome:.

But in all seriousness, this is great. We could be on the verge of a massive breakthrough within a few years.

/Bleeding optimism.

I stopped reading at "natural cancer fighting human cell, the mitochondria" because that is COMPLETELY NOT TRUE.

Mitochondria is not a cell, it's a organelle inside every cell - it's how the cell produces energy to do...everything. They are always activated.

No wonder why they can't get anyone to fund their "cancer cure," because all the other scientists are laughing them back into their basements. :funny: Or if they misspoke, surely an official educational institution could hire some copywriters that didn't spew misinformation like that so people could maybe take them seriously. :oldrazz:

That's what I do. :cwink: I remember doing something similar over news that some Chinese company had found the cure for HIV that utilized the virus's DNA and I was like, "Hold up, HIV doesn't have DNA." :oldrazz:

Chances our the government wouldn't touch it either.

This is excellent news if it's true!

In all honesty, I think there's been a cure for cancer for years. We'll just never know... because too much money is being made on treatment. And yes, that's a conspiracy theory... one that I happen to take seriously.

Then who's in on the secret? I work in cancer research and the more we find out, the more I think there will never be a cure for cancer. :oldrazz:

Cancer care treatment is a multi-billion dollar business...

Finding an actual CURE (which I'm 100% sure exists) would really screw up a lot of business for a lot of powerful people.

It's the same thing with the hydrogen/water-powered car that's been kept quiet since the 80's...

Cancer has been cured several times. Most of the people who did so were buried and smeared into obscurity, with most of their findings/research seized or destroyed under the guise that they were "practicing medicine without a license" or "malpractice".

The info is out there if you look.

They must be paying off the government real good, considering how much money we get from the NIH (funded by yes, your tax dollars) each year in the name of cancer research. :oldrazz:

Cancer is not a disease, it's a symptom for a bazillion things that could go wrong in your DNA. If you knew anything about DNA, you'd understand more why there will never be a cure for cancer. :whatever:

Did't Lex Luthor find the cure for cancer... Then decided to water it down and sell it? :oldrazz:

Pretty much this.

Also, if this "cure" works, who's to say that there won't be any relapses?

Chris Rock: There ain't no money in the cure. The money is in the medicine. The government ain't nothing but a bunch of drug dealers on the comeback!:awesome:
