Scientists expected to be able to create life within three to ten years

This is very interesting! These are truly exciting times.

I do, however, foresee a zombie apocalypse because of this.

ok scientists let's get some priorities in check.

1.- Cancer
2.- Aids
3.- getting spinal chord injury victims to walk again
4.- Blindness
5.- birth control
6.- new and cleaner energy sources.

and so on and so forth

like right after

1,200.- Natural and safe breast enhancement
1,201.- recreating **** that really serves no purpose right now.

kthxbye.

Yeah, we should get every scientist on the planet together and make them work on JUST THOSE THINGS.

OMG, YOU SOLVED THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS!!!:down

I came in to say something significant, but Sparkle stole that from me. :csad:

And how do you know that these things can't be engineered to fight those very things. This sounds like something that can change almost everything we have right now.

:whatever: oh gawd.
yeah I don't really know that they can't, since I'm not a scientist.
however, there should be ****ing priorities in science, you know why?
because just like I don't know if these things CAN be useful there's a high chance that they are unrelated to anything, and then all we get is million dollar petri dish that serves no purpose but to be denied by religious fundamentalists.

When are they going to be able to make pet that looks just like a twelve inch version of Godzilla? :csad:

Why make more life when humanity has already proven that we can't even handle the life we make out of pleasure, much less in a disconnected fashion that fosters less attachment? Unless you're one of the people who thinks that harvesting organs from new people matters much when people are destined to die anyways...

Oh well, bring on the clone wars.

Ok, but even if this does end up being a dead end, it's only a few scientists are working on it. The number of people working on AiDS and Cancer is HUGE. Do you really think diverting resources away from all other projects until we figure those out will solve everything? Should we pull everyone working to get ahead of other infectious diseases because of AIDS? Should we stop working on finding a cure for Lupus because there's no cure for Cancer?

So long as I get a miniature Gamera, I'm down with that.

are you people familiar with the concept of "priorities"?
