The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

Strongly disagree. They are different mediums, sure. And a lot of times, it requires different things to be conveyed. And in this day and age of CGI, there is little difference anymore between animation and "live action". Avatar is a cartoon.

I challenge any of you who has these opinions to watch Grave of the Fireflies.

It is a shame that perhaps for some especially in the western market that I feel animated movie is not yet looked upon as pretentious as the live action ones.

While here in Asia, China had NeZha 2, and this year, we will again have an animation movie be the biggest movie of the year in Demon's Slayer: Infinite Castle.

Well Fantastic Four was exactly the movie the trailers sold. If you dug those then I’m sure you’ll dig the movie. I was whelmed. Best F4 movie by default, though. I still say Pedro and Quinn are miscasts.
Pedro is obviously Jodie Foster, Queen Latifah, or Lee Pace-ing his way through Hollywood until he gets Luke Evans'd. :o

And that's fine buddy. Animation just doesn't do anything for me. Avatar is different in that the actors actually act the scene out themselves in front of each other rather than just give a voice performance. Plus the movies have humans in with significant roles.

Animation just doesn't have the same impact for me. Wall-E for example is a great movie, but I have never had the urge to watch it ever again. But I realise many feel different.

As if acting in a stupid looking get up is able to produce a better performance than in a sound booth. Also, what do you think ADR is?

Dismissing an entire medium because of you haven't found something is just odd. Please, just try some Miyazaki.

Considering people were talking about Saldana getting an Oscar nomination for the first movie I would say it does produce a better performance. Acting and reacting to what is opposite you is very different than being in a sound booth. ADR is mainly used for pick ups, not entirely movies.

I am not dismissing the medium, I grew up with animation, Visionaries, He-Man, Bravestar, X-Men and Spiderman TAS you name it from the 80s and early-mid 90's I watched it. Then in my teens I loved Manga, the likes of Guyver, Fist of the North Star, Devil Man and Patlabor.

However in my adult life, it just doesn't have the same impact for me that a live action movie or series will. And that's just me, I am not expecting anyone else to think the same.

I want to say: Beware to open youtube today for those who haven't seen Fantastic Four.

In my thumbnails that I just opened earlier...there are 3 videos that spoiled the mid credit scene...i didnt open the video but the title already spoils it 😭😭😭

Oh well... it is my fault for opening YT this close of opening day ....thus I guess I should warn everyone here to not open youtube (or any Social Media, for that matter) until you see the movie. Better safe than sorry (it is a big spoiler)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not gonna open YouTube at all until after I've seen it tonight. Every time I've opened it up over the last few weeks there's been a new official F4 video from Marvel or an interview with the cast so I'm sure my YouTube algorithm will definitely allow for some major spoilers to slip through. So instead, I'll choose to distract myself with...working. At my job. :o

Jessica Jones Season 3

Okay, having officially finished the final season, I can definitively say that I love this show :yay:

Season 3 felt the most comic booky yet, and I mean that as a compliment. So Sallinger was Foolkiller from the comics? I remember reading an old Spider-Man comic online featuring Foolkiller and thought the name sounded familiar. Well voila, the version of Foolkiller in the comic I read was indeed Greg Salinger! Obviously the character's concept was wildly re-imagined for the show...

Anyway, if the series is revived - and it damn well better be - I hope Trish gets a chance to redeem herself. Her character deserved better than what she got here...

My hat's off to you, Jess. You lost everything in the end but you went out the way you came in, full of rage and resolve.

Ring me up the next time you're in Toronto. We'll share a fifth of bourbon...

Next up: Luke Cage Season 2

I am catching it today in a nice XD auditorium though! I would opt for IMAX, but we only have a LieMax out here now cause the good theater we had that had a true IMAX lost it after Covid. But the XD is better than the LieMax

I want to me meet the one guy who prefers Cloud Galactus. I know he’s out there.
Someone posted something in this thread not too long ago saying they liked Cloud Galactus. I don't exactly remember who it was and I don't want to go around accusing people. I just remember the hot take was accompanied by the famous Norman Rockwell painting, "The local drunk speaks his mind at a town hall" :o
