What was Colossus' role in this in the original script? Seems an odd choice to me

From what I remember reading, he was sent by the X-Men to monitor Deadpool and try to convince him to stop being such a nutjob.

Supposedly there's also a big fight where he kicks the crap out of Wade.

Deadpool tries to beat him up but breaks his arms and legs lol

The outcome of that fight was pretty graphic and edgy, which is why I hope the rumors about Deadpool aiming at a PG-13 aren't true. Of all things that the script didn't need to improve it was the tone, and the level of violence / vulgarity. It was spot on. Not too much , not too little to the point where it seemed just another toned down comic book movie.

Stuff such as the sex montage, the brief spurts of hard-edged violence and the cussing rounded out the material nicely and made it stick out from the countless other movies based on comic books. This way, it seems more like they are going to ride on the coattails of Guardians of the Galaxy - just without the Galaxy part. And I've never been a fan of 'Hey, they should make a [INSERT SUPERHERO NAME] movie in the vein of [INSERT SUPERHERO MOVIE TITLE].'
