"Scrubs" is going back to school

Why can't they let this show die? The past few seasons have been BAD. Retooling the show won't change the fact that the characters are played out and that Zach Braff is no longer working on the show. CANCEL THIS S**T!

The last season started off pretty good, but then it got terrible. It ended with a really good finale, though.

Congratulations are in order to Eliza Coupe: Scrubs has officially promoted the actress to a series regular.

Scrubs boss Bill Lawrence recently hinted that Coupe's hilariously insensitive intern, Denise (a.k.a. "Jo"), would play an integral part in next season's med school reboot. "I really like Eliza," he told me last month. "I think she's a really interesting actress and we didn't give her a full character [last season]. I think she's hyper-talented."

No argument here.

Coupe joins a refreshed ensemble that will include three or four new regulars in addition to returning vets Donald Faison and John C. McGinley. Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and Ken Jenkins are expected to make guest appearances.

Much as I love Scrubs, these attempts to keep a show running without his leading character almost never work, especially this one that was very centered on JD, in spite of the large cast. I saw what happened to That´70´s Show without Eric.

Scrubs has officially started casting the three new med students exec producer Bill Lawrence first told me about last month. Details are as follows…

LUCY: A 22-year-old, all-American girl from a working class family. Her entire family has sacrificed all their hopes and dreams on her success. She has a nervous habit of lying about mundane things in an effort to connect with people. Series regular.

DREW: A 30-year-old scruffy yet attractive student. Think a younger Bill Murray. This is his last shot of making a go of this med school thing – and he knows it. On the surface he's cool and a bit of a wise-ass. Deep down, he's neurotic and terrified of failing again. Series regular.

COLE: A 22-year-old charming, conservative, insanely entitled med student. Seems like a sweetheart at first but he's really an ass. His wealthy family donated a wing to the med school and he has a residency slot waiting for him at Sacred Heart when he graduates. Competitive, manipulative, reckless and an enormous irritant to Dr. Cox. Series regular.

in a different way, than J.D. though. He seems more like an Ed (Aziz Ansari's character) clone. I'm guessing Drew will be the new focus.
