3 episodes in and i do like it but damn some of the critics weren't lying when they said these first few episodes were slow...The end of this episode was solid though... BUT, what do you guys think about

Frank being the one that actually gunned down Zubair? One of the complaints people had about Punisher WarZone was that Frank killed an innocent, granted this was Frank during his military days but still...I was kinda hoping it woulda been someone else that pulled the trigger.

I never heard those complaints about War Zone and never watched that movie, but I think it works well for the story they're telling here that even with all the bad guys Frank's killed, [blackout]his hands aren't totally clean either.[/blackout] With all the guilt and trauma he's dealing with, it just feels more realistic to me.

That didn't bother me so much as the slow pacing and all the extraneous characters like Walcott.

Yes it gives the whole thing more layers. It does seem likely that he could get caught up in things he regrets mixing in these circles. And it would make his PTSD feel a lot more real when part of it relates to actions where he knew he was in the wrong and almost one of the bad guys. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out when Dinah gets further into the investigation with her personal connection to it.

Ugh, Madani. The worst character in this whole freaking show. And that fake forced American accent. If you can't do a convincing accent, don't use it.

 

[Mike Murdock]

The theme of this episode seems to be war, PTSD, and what you bring back. A lot of this episode is related to that - particularly with the other soldier who almost shoots his dad. The big highlight is the shootout in Afghanistan. It's not a well-correographed Daredevil fight, but it brings an emotional punch nonetheless. It's impossible to see that last fight and not understand that Frank came back a changed person. The scene is quite visceral. But that helps sell the ending where Frank says he will join with Micro provided he gets to kill everyone. The downside is it's a bit slow, particularly with the torture-y scenes. But it's good to see everyone moving past that.

Frank's partner is Afghanistan is seeming too suspicious. He's a bit too clean and there's set up that he will suspect Frank is still alive.

I gave this one a five. It's got a ton of style, there's a bunch of cool moments. I really enjoyed it.

The pace of this show has been so slow so far. Most of this episode felt very fillerish. Like, why was Frank just keeping Micro tied to a chair for so long? Bertnthal is selling the hell out of this material but there's only so much he can do. I hope the pace picks up soon.

and has guilt associated with the loss of his family that he traces to his own actions[/BLACKOUT]. I really feel this is a very real and fleshed out Punisher. Castle is more interesting as a full fledged human being.

I don't get the complaints about pacing so far. The episodes allow for depth all around. I think some just want to see Frank killing and killing and while I want violent retribution, it is the Punisher after all, I think the character stuff and the tension that comes with it is great, and makes the violence stand out more.

I think the PTSD stuff makes perfect sense for a show about Castle, and whatever "politics" the show has it's addressing an actual, real world issue that honestly doesn't get a lot of media attention. Kudos to Marvel on Netflix for giving it a spotlight I say.

I watched it a second time, and it's gotten better with the second viewing. (I also was first viewing with a packed house, and people were losing interest in the show real quick, I guess hoping for an Avengers vibe or something, but watching it by myself, I was able to catch the little things that I missed when a group is drinking and getting loud)

But the Madani character, I just felt it was too much focus on her. Maybe it's just me, but I liked the actor who played Sam more, and too bad they couldn't switch it up, make him the lead investigator, but alas, it wasn't going to go down that way.

But, damn, I wonder if Micro's little girl might become someone, she has some savvy instincts and skills.

While I'm not overly fond of the overall plot of the show (and the changes it's making to Frank's family's death), what I meant on the Madani part was more her inter-department mini plot line.

"I was told not to investigate this, but I'm going to anyway." It's such a cliche, and it seems squeezed in here just to make us applaud her pluck in the face of her boss that was involved in the cover up. Which it didn't do for me.

I think it would've been more interesting if she knew about her boss's involvement the whole time and was investigating him secretly.

But whatevs. It's not a deal breaker or anything. I'm still really enjoying the show.

What is with this " slow " complaint ? The very first scene of the show opens up with Frank getting ready to torture Micro ffs . Does any scene of people talking automatically count as " slow " now ?
