Discuss this uber-patriotic episode starring Blue Beetle, Stargirl, Mantis, Plastic Man, the Freedom Fighters, and the Qwardians!

It was a Flag Waver. 'B'.
Nice treat seeing the Freedom Fighters in action.
Even a cameo from President Obama or Look-a-Like.

I believe this was the first time Batman did not appear in the Teaser.

The small "Captain America" wings on Batman's helmet were amusing as was the instance of throwing the disk to take out an enemy.

Haha that was indeed very awesome. I liked the little song they had, but yeah this was a pretty fun episode and i enjoyed it verily. Uncle Sam was a total badass.

This week's teaser is rather unique for this show, as it is the first teaser to never feature Batman at all, instead sending the "veteran" hero Blue Beetle to go help the new superheroine Stargirl against the New God Mantis. The duo fight in a cul-de-sac, and despite doubts from Stargirl, they manage to defeat the villain. Definitely a fun one, but I can't help but to notice one thing: they just fought another New God. I wonder if that, along with the appearances of Steppenwolf and the Female Furies, is building up for Darkseid later on.

The main story proved to be just as entertaining. Batman and Plastic Man foil some gangsters on Election Day, only to discover they are actually soldiers from the planet Qward. Uncle Sam appears to help the duo fight the aliens, and take them to their ship, where he informs them of the situation. He also introduces to the rest of the Freedom Fighters, a group of bizarre, but patriotic superheroes, and wants Plastic Man to join, much to the chargrin of Batman and the rest of the Fighters. They arrive at Qward and fight soldiers oppressing some villagers. Uncle Sam tries to lift their spirits, but fails. The heroes arrive and fight the Qwardian Chairman and his troops, but all are captured except for Plas and a weakened Uncle Sam. O'Brien rallies up the Qwardian villagers to fight back again their tyrant, and using a bizarre demonstration of patriotism, brings back Uncle Sam. They free Batman and the Freedom Fighters, and Batman is empowered with patriotic power to defeat the Qwardian Chairman. Plastic Man joins the Freedom Fighters, and is congratulated by President Barrack Obama...whose name he cannot recall.

This episode was very fun and exciting, a step-up from last week's (not that the previous one was weak either). It definitely feels refreshing to see a team-up with other DC heroes after three straight weeks of the Bat-Family. All the crazy, outrageous moments typical of the show are still here: the humor, the action, and the excitement. What I enjoyed the most out of this episode was the fact that all the patriotism and "Go USA" spirit was played up to ridiculousness and cheesiness, rather than playing it straight and ending up looking annoying. Plastic Man is always entertaining, and his version of US events and "Yankee Doodle" musical number was...something special.

The unexpected appearance of Obama at the end really got me as well.

10/10

NEXT WEEK:
A glimpse into the future reaveals the fate of Batman: after decades of crimefighting, he calls it quits and marries Selina Kyle, the reformed Catwoman. While Dick Grayson/Nightwing takes his place as Batman, Bruce and Selina raise a son, Damian, who is forced to embrace his father's legacy when the Joker returns to Gotham

Same here. I was really surprised they did that. Usually they keep the president's face hidden and usually doesn't even speak. That's good to see them attempting this. Shows should that more often. I mean if they have a good reason for it.

I loved this episode, so great, especially President Obama at the end, although his voice seemed strange. Still great. Loved the message about patriotism.
I designed a costume for a Captain America/Batman mix, they were so close to that design... not really but same idea.
