I have a few things stored away (a pillow with robots or exoskeleton suits fighting each other, gameboys, a ferret and kitten book, game stations, comics, CDs/VHS tapes/DVDs, coins, a couple of stuffed animals, a chewed up bone, etc.)
Each one of these items holds a memory from my past. I suppose I keep them to remind myself that the younger years weren't too bad, and that I'm still human.
I might be over 800 miles away from the storage facility that contains these items, but when I'm in town, I try to make a short stop to keep myself grounded.
