Sesame Street Live Action Musical | Warner Bros.

I guess they're trying to pull off the same nostalgic success that The Muppets had back in 2011, but it's funny since unlike the Muppets, Sesame Street has never gone away. It's also not the first time they've had a movie. Elmo had a movie and who remembers this one that made me cry when I was 3?

I really wonder how well a Sesame Street movie can do in the 21st century?

Even in its prime, Follow that Bird didn’t exactly light the box office on fire and neither did Elmo in Grouchland at the apex of the Elmo phenomenon.

Interesting. I wonder why they chose that January release date.

Paddington released in that slot (MLK weekend) in 2015. WB acquired the rights to Paddington 2 and released the movie in the same holiday inflated weekend in 2018.

Neither did all that good at the dbo (76m & 40m) but there's precedent of family fare opening that weekend.

Anne Hathaway’s ‘Sesame Street’ Aiming to Begin Filming on July 15th and Wrap in September

According to Geek Vibes Nation, the upcoming feature film adaptation ‘Sesame Street’ is aiming to begin filming July 15th in New York City and wrap this September.

Krisel said that “It’s going to be big,” with a budget that could be in the $50 million range. Anne Hathaway (‘Ocean’s 8,’ ‘Serenity’) will star. The plot is being kept under wraps, but it will be a musical drawing inspiration from the show’s theme song, with characters getting lost in New York City and trying to find their way back to Sesame Street.

So they are literally asking people how to get to Sesame Street.

As long as Grover ends up in a leather bar in the village I'm happy.

The updated synopsis:

In the movie directed by Jonathan Krisel, Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends are mysteriously expelled from their neighborhood, finding themselves in Manhattan. They team up with Sally Hawthorne, a plucky history-show host who’s on a quest to save her progrma and prove that Sesame Street actually exists. Obstacles are created by the “evil” mayor, with reasons of his own for keeping Sesame Street hidden from the world.

I hope they deal with the issue about how a muppet can never get a cab in New York. :(

Anne Hathaway's 'Sesame Street' Film Shoot Pushed Back 9 Months (Exclusive)

Production on Warner Bros./MGM’s “Sesame Street” movie starring Anne Hathaway has been delayed nine months until April 2020, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

As of right now, the film is still set for release on January 15, 2021, but it’s likely the film may not hit that release date given the push in production. Insiders tell TheWrap the film was meant to start shooting this July, but there was a conflict with Hathaway’s schedule.

What else does she got upcoming?

What else does she got upcoming?

I think she's about to wrap the principal photography part of The Witches right nao.

There's Dry Run by Todd Haynes coming up later this year and she'll hafta campaign for her role in that during the awards season. That's probably the hindrance.

Well now I definitely want to see it.
