Shadow Complex

This is probably the best arcade game I've played so far on the 360.

I think I may just buy this tonight instead of waiting. It was really fun. Reminded me of Blackthorne from back in the day.

Got 100% of the items, I take it you don't get the achievement until you complete the game?

I just played the demo and it was awesome. I didnt know Nolan North was in this game, that makes it even more awesome. I also love the setting of the game.

Awesome awesome game, can't reccomend it enough....if you have a 360 get this game asap.

you can make sticky grenades...just shoot some foam where you want the grenade and shoot the grenade at that spot

For anyone going to attempt the 4% Insurgent run for the in-game Master Challenge ("Complete the game at 4% with only the Flashlight, Backpack, Grenade, Foam and Missile.").

Requirements:
Golden Guns room is unlocked (get all gold bars on a previous playthrough.
Level 30 or above (need infinite foam)

1. Start a game on Casual (you can do it on any difficulty, but Casual will save much frustration and death)

2. Progress through the game normally up to the handgun room. It isn't confirmed if getting caught by the cameras at the beginning of the complex affects anything, but avoid them just to be safe. Once at the handgun room, head LEFT into the golden gun room so that you don't trigger the cutscene. Pick up the shotgun (not required to have this particular gun, but is VERY helpful)

3. Drop back into the vents and progress all the way to where you get the grenades. Feel free to get the health power up after the save point, as this will give you 4% at the end, or avoid it to get 3%. (Do not get ANY power ups other than the ones specifically mentioned here.) The health power up will help you avoid death (obviously).

4. Grab the grenades, then fight the spider walker.

5. Head up, but AVOID THE GREEN DOOR. You can land on the ledge with the green door, but be sure not to touch it. Backtrack to the save room next to where you got the health power up.

6. Continue backtracking until you get to the doorway with three barrels in front of it. THIS IS THE TRIGGER POINT. After passing this point you have about 30 seconds to get to the secret door.

7. Run quickly to the underground lake below, swim across it (I recommend holding X and jumping out of the lake while going forward, it's faster than just swimming) Ignore all of the enemies. Before reaching the opposite side of the lake, dive underwater and swim left into a tunnel with some pipes. Surface, and run left where you should notice a gap in the floor before the missile door. Drop into it.

8. You will end up in a secret room where you will receive constant fire damage. On casual you should have plenty of time to navigate this room, so don't feel rushed. Jump to the moving wall as it is moving upward, then jump for the next ledge once the gap opens up. Head up.

9. Move up the ladder and head left into the next room. You will be in a large room. Crouch at the ledge to grab onto the ladder. Head down while pressing the analog stick down and to the right (do not hold X) and you should drop and grab onto the ledge below with a soldier on it. Shoot the soldier from that position, then climb up and head through the door.

10. Continue forward until you get to a Foam Door and a Foam robot. DON'T KILL THE ROBOT. You need it to shoot the foam door for you. This can be a little tricky, just stand in front of the door and jump around until it hits the control at the top. If anybody has a surefire way to get this to work, please speak up.

11. Exit the left door in this room (saving at the save point) into the room with the rocket turret. Dispose of all of the enemies in this room and exit through the now open bottom door. Progress until you acquire the foam gun in the usual place.

12. Destroy the generators to exit the room, and head back to the rocket turret room. You will have to take a slightly different route to get back, going through several Foam Doors. If you ever get stuck somewhere that you need double jump, remember you have infinite foam! Build a bridge by shooting continuously just below the location you wish to get to, or a tower by shooting 2-3 shots directly below you, jumping, the repeating. There is no limit to where you can go with infinite foam. (except for missile doors, of course).

13. Slightly to the right of the turret is a room above with a missile expansion. Build a foam tower underneath it until you get to the expansion. Good luck with this one. For some reason the passage to the expansion hinders your progress, and won't allow you to jump, so you need to force your way up. Just keep shooting foam and jumping, shooting foam and jumping. You may get stuck and have to start again. After several tries you should eventually make it.

14. Now you have all the items you need to beat the game. Get on top of the Ranger Tower (the Orange section) from the outside. I got to the outdoor area to the left of it and built a foam tower to a platform above. From there it is easy. I believe you can also access it from the right side as well.

15. Get to the bridge, and drop down and to the right to get to the missile door. If you drop all the way to the bottom, dispose of the two enemies and climb the ladder to the right. Head through the missile door to the bridge controls. Activate them, and run quickly out of that area. Once back into the bridge area, build a foam bridge to the door directly to the left. Head through that and up to the bridge. Cross the bridge, go through the door, and be sure to save at the save point.

16. Head through the missile door into the control room. Foam you way up to the top to activate the destruction sequence. Don't skip the cut scene as this will give you a few more precious seconds for your escape. QUICKLY make your way back to the bridge. This may take several tries until you perfect the wall jump up the elevator shaft, just keep trying.

17. Once safely on the bridge, head left and foam your way up onto the ledge above the door. Get up to the top of this tower and foam to the top of the right tower. From here head right to the final battle, the route should be very easy with just a little bit of foam work.

18. Beat the game. You should know what to do at this point.

Congratulations, you have completed the 4% Insurgent run! I may submit a faq of this if everyone thinks this is complete enough, feel free to suggest any additions or changes. Thanks!

Here is a video walkthrough of the secret method to get the Foam Gun extremely early. Only Hilary from IGN and the devs knew how to do this up until a few days ago.

So I was playing the proving grounds and doing horribly when I noticed that a couple of people on my friends list are playing this game as well so I thought I wonder how they are doing in comparison to me. I check the leader broads which I hardly ever do and to my surprise I discover that I am with in the top 100 in the overall campaign! That just simply amazed me as I always take my time playing and I never try to sequence break or doing speed runs in these types of game. I'll sure I be near the bottom of the broads in no time but I'm glad I caught it when I was. :D

play through with just a foam gun and grenades??? umm I'll try that later....much later

I'm trying to do The Insurgent now. There's a lot of uncertainty about what exactly triggers the secret door. One website said you couldn't take any damage in the fight with the spider tank, others say it's a time thing, etc. I don't know. I didn't get the secret door when I tried last night, but I did take damage from the spider tank and I didn't rush back to the secret door's location, so I'll try it again tonight.

Anyone encounter glitches yet? I had to restart my second game because I got the foam early and couldn't get into the room where you normally get the foam and sabotage the factory; apparently the door locks after you get your first foam to prevent you from leaving without sabotaging the factory, only in my case it prevented me from getting in to sabotage the factory. :o

I got The Insurgent this morning and I'm pretty sure I took damage in the first boss fight.

Cool, I'll just load my last save and haul ass back to the lake. Hopefully I'll get the door this time.

I just can't bring myself to just go through with a flashlight, a gun, and grenades....I needs my toys

It's the flashlight, climbing gear, grenades, foam, and missiles. You're actually not supposed to get a gun, although you can get around that by getting the golden guns beforehand and picking one of them up in your Insurgent run. They don't add anything to your item percentage (and most are a hell of a lot better than the pistol).

Is this 4% run an achievement or just something cool that people found out? I know there's an achievement for a 13% run, didn't know about this 4% one though. I'm still working on the first playthrough though, I just told Claire to get away and am on the hunt for the suits components. Want to get the 100% achievement this playthrough, then probably go back for the 13% one.

It's an in-game challenge. It's listed under Achievements in the game's menu, but not in the Live achievements list. There are 4 game achievements that aren't listed in Live's list.

I got my 100% completion achievement my second time through. The first time, I beat the game without even realizing it and tried to go back and collect the rest of the stuff I'd missed, but since I couldn't go across the lake with the little cabin on it without triggering the final mission, I couldn't reach a bunch of stuff in the light purple area all the way on the right of the map. So the second time through, I just collected everything up until the grapple (since that's the last of the items that allows you to reach otherwise unreachable areas) and then avoided the missions and collected everything else.

How long did it take for you to complete with 100%?

About 4 and a half hours, I believe, was the time it showed me after the credits. It'd probably take a lot longer if you're going for it on your first try and haven't gotten the level 20 full map bonus, though. Once you get that, it's literally as easy as just hunting down question marks.

Ah, so you get something to help you find stuff. How long did it take you to play through it your first playthrough?

I don't remember. Virtually all day Saturday, so probably like 8 or 10 hours?

For my Insurgent run, I was both seen by the security cameras and took damage in the boss fight. I didn't touch the green door and I booked it once I got to the doorway with the barrels. I made it the first time but immediately after is a drop from a ladder to a platform that took me a few times. If you miss it you have to reload the save, thankfully the door is still open for that 30 seconds or whatever when you reload so I got back through it each time I tried.

The toughest part of Insurgent for me was getting the missile upgrade. What a pain in the ass. It's up a vent with a fan, so you really can't jump. You have to build a tower slowly and straight against the right side of the vent. As you get higher you have to glitchy wiggle around to get the the top of the tower each time. It took a few tries to finally be able to get to the missile ledge. Also if you're doing this and keep shooting into the background, it's because he is aiming at the boxes, destroy them and it won't be a problem.

I got 100% on my first playthrough. I managed to get to level 20 pretty early on in and used that to it's fullest extent right away. I knew about the explosion blocking off the best gun in the game, so you have to get it before the explosion, and the final boss area triggering, so I did everything right after I got the triple jump. I love getting that helmet for collecting all the passkey pieces.

I just got lvl. 50 last night. It took me one 100% playthrough on normal, 2 95%-98% playthroughs on Insane/Hardcore (I'd switch back to hardcore whenever I died so the ?'s still showed on my map, then switched to insane to find the items), one Insurgent run on casual, and 1/4th of another Insane/Hardcore run to finally get to 50.

This is a really fun game, I might dust off my Wii and play Super Metroid sometime soon. Shadow Complex is the first game I've ever gotten all the achievements for.
