Marvel: "No more crappy videogames!!!!"

Until they wrangle away Spider-Man and Ultimate Alliance (to a lesser extent) from Activision, I refuse to believe that we won't be getting at least one terrible Marvel game a year.

Agree! Spidey needs developers who care for the character and who make a great game instead of justing pulling out crap that they know will sell no matter what because of fankids. I want a Spidey game as good as Arkham Asylum. A whole new combat system, an awesome story, realistic swinging mechanics, epic boss battles (not just dodge-hit-dodge-hit, duh!), better camera that's closer to Spidey, a larger "feeling" of the city (bigger skyscrapes etc.) and a city that's more alive, more variety and more interior missions, etc. etc.

A cool thing about Arkham Asylum is that the bosses aren't any different than normal thugs, and stuff happens that prevents you from just beating the crap out of them. Like when you first meet Zsaz you can just drop kick him in the face and he's out for the count.

I think many of spidey's villains would go down with very few of spidey's punches if he went full force. The game should reflect that. Not just having you endlessly comboing an enemy for some BS and outdated gaming mechanic notion of a life bar.

(The Vulture fights in WOS...or Black Cat battles) Actually almost all of WOS' battles were like that. You could just keep beating the crap out of an enemy and they'd ignore you to do their preset routine.

We all want that, but until Spidey is free of Activision, we aint getting it.

i can easily see how arkham asylum gameplay can get boring. But the story should hold interest. The replay value is also pretty low with no online play so i think its more of a rental then a buy

Not according to just about every review so far. There is plenty of replayability due to the challenge maps and the Riddler challenges.

Activision made Wolverine I believe. But Spider-Man 3 was amazing, wasn't it? (The Game.. heh..hehh....) The webs connected to the buildings for the first time! Which was awesome, imo. Web of Shadows was all over the place. They game physics, anyway. Not to mention some of the animation was choppy as hell.. x_X;

They published, but there's a story behind it. That game had actually been in development awhile as a standalone Wolverine title, but Activision picked it up and them and Ravenclaw decided to refit it to the movie

Oh yeah, I remember that! If it didn't sit around for awhile.. it would've been ****! I forgot about that. x_X;;

Haha, Ravenclaw, u mean Raven Software.

I also think it was more Activision making Raven turn it into a movie tie in, than it was a mutual thing.

Yeah, Raven Software will work. I didn't know much about the situation

I thought WOS was more fun than Spidey 3. But Spidey 3 looked better (graphics).

I found myself web-slinging through the city .. just for the hell of it, with Spider-Man 3! I can't say the same for WOS. I dunno.. just something seems off. x_X;

Web of Shadows was fun as hell, don't get me wrong. The Symbiote variants of the heroes/villains .. was pretty damned cool, along with the final battle. There are just too many WTF moments, you know? What's with the shotgun wielding Mary Jane, anyway? That's my WTF moment of the year that one..

I totally agree! Many people complain about the AA bosses, but I like them because they're unique and not just the same old "dodge-hit-dodge-hit until bar is empty". The Killer Croc sequence for example. That was one of the best parts in the game imo, because it was new and exciting. It really felt like you were hunted by an animal. I actually thought "damn, that would be PERFECT for Lizard, except there should be some fistfights with him too".

However, alot of villains are superstrong, and should take some time to beat up. Though, Mysterio, Chameleon, Doc Ock, Vulture etc. are all villains that I'd love as bosses, because they'd be beaten up quickly once you get the chance, but they wouldn't let you unless you handle all obstacles in a smart way (for example...Doc Ock wouldn't have much of a life bar, but still would be damn hard to beat because he'd attack you and protect himself with his arms all the time and maybe have some other trix to use. You'd have to be smart to beat him. I don't even need to explain Mysterio because that's pretty much obvious. With Chameleon, it would be cool if you'd have to find him in a mass of people, and he'd attack you out of nowhere disguised as normal people. You'd have to use your spider sense to protect yourself and be smart to discover where he is, etc.).

Unfortunately true. For how long does Activision have the rights?

We need a Planet Hulk game. That Hulk series was..and is EXTREMELY poplular... and has all the makings of gaming gold. It cant just be open world...well most of it can't. End it off with World War Hulk(imagine playing as Hulk against the Marvel Universe)

That would be freaking awesome!!!:eek::up::D:up:

i know i wish someone that had something to do with videogames would read this!

In all fairness I do think Activision is trying, you can tell they're passionate about the character. I mean they've come a loong way since the ps1 Spiderman game guys.

A Marvel Fighting game(like the one EA was working on...) where you pick major characters, and you can use their powers in 3D environments that are destructable. have like 30 characters plus dlc....man that would be amazing.

I thought Wolverine was a really strong effort, and same goes for Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Now, Spiderman 3, and Fantastic Four were fails, and Iron Man was mediocre at best (biggest drawback was not being able to save or at least offer checkpoints throughout the various missions).

From what I've read UA2 is nothing special, I may rent before I decide to buy. But, overall I've enjoyed Marvel's games.

UA2 is an average game IMO. Not great but certainly not bad

A WWH game would be awesome, they should let the guys who did Ultimate Destruction do it.

I think since THQ isn't letting go of the Punisher (which is why he isn't in the MUA series >:-( ) they should do a sequel to the 2005 Punisher game.

planet hulk into wwh would be gaming gold. SOMEONE MAKE IT!!!
