Comic Book Resources has reported the following:

"2008 is going to be all Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel. DC will be pushing the character with the animated series and toys. Mary Marvel will have a starring role in "Countdown." The Jeff Smith series will get a huge promotional push when it's collected, and is just the first of a number of Captain Marvel projects with large appeal.

Warner believes it can create a movie franchise based on the character, but in order to do so, they've got to get people talking the character up.

I cannot wait to see it. It is time for Captain Marvel and The Marvel Family to shine!
I know Shazam and The Monster Society of Evil is getting good reviews and the movie is being made.
I know that DC is going to get a lot of "classic" Cap stuff, so I wonder if eventually DC will put Billy back as Captain Marvel after Countdown.
With the big hype WB and DC are putting on Cap, I would think as not confuse people with Billy being Marvel, and Freddy being the new Captain Marvel, tthat Dc will put things back. I can really see it later happening with The Shazam and The Monster Society of Evil popularity going very strong!
Kids WB next year will have a lot of superhero shows on in 2008, The Batman ( Season 5), Legion of Super-Heroes ( Season 2), The Amazing Spider-Man, and now Shazam! Wow!
Shazam on Saturday morning again will bring back a lot of memories for me. I was a big fan of the 70's show and the toon from the 1981.
Boy, I sound old!

Y'know, while I like to see this, I'm asking "Where is Wonder Woman's show?". People are gonna think Captain Marvel is DC Superhero #3 next to Superman & Batman, but Wonder Woman is #3 and he is actually below them.

I don't care if she will be in TB Season 5 or a new JLA show, but if she isn't, I'll be asking that question.

Yeah Wonder Woman needs a push.
You know, She-Ra worked in the 80's, why not Wonder Woman?
There were a lot of lead female cartoon characters in car toons and Wonder Woman should be there.

to be fair, Wonder Woman had a lead role in the Justice League series, all Captain Marvel got was a cameo.

^Speaking of that cameo, do you think they should get Jerry O'Connell back as Captain Marvel's voice (assuming they even could)?

where did you see the animation?

it's the link in the first post.

and agreed, that's hauntingly bad.

speaking of animation will the 80's shazam animated be relased on dvd?

Looks Bad...They should have used this...

Looks really bad, maybe thats just preliminary art. Then again I thought that Legion of Superheroes looked bad till I saw them in action.
I guess I just imagined him to be more round smooth shapes and not jagged curly pointy shapes.
it might still work, we will see.

Captain Marvel does deserve his own cartoon, just hope whatever it is is really good.
