We'll probably hear more at E3. I can't wait to see what Clover Studios next project is.

It's odd that after saying he (Mikami) would chop off his own head if RE4 was ported to the PS2 is A) Still alive and B) Working on a PS2 exclusive :o

Somebody needs to cut Phil Harrison's balls and send it to PS2 manufacturing plants all over - just so they really get the message this time that the freakin' console is D.E.A.D.

Jeez, I though at least Mikami would have been wise enough to not develop for something that has both feet hanging over it's proverbial graveyard, especially with the 360 hanging around and the PS3 and Revolution's release dates just around the corner.

Lets not forget kiddies, not everyone is gonna stop buying PS2 games right away, and certainly it would be foolish to neglect the large ps2 audience while PS3 is in it's infancy.

Of course, how else are you going to convince them to buy the goddamn PS3 then, eh? Ah now I get it...keep making PS2 games!

Neglecting a huge audience would be completely moronic. I'm not saying it's not winding down, but even the PSone got games for a while. Not everyone is going to be good sony lapdogs and run out and buy one instantly.

Sony's not completely "neglecting" that "huge audience". That's why the PS3 will be 100% backwards-compatible with both PS1 and PS2 titles. But of course, as a hardware company, progression is inevitable and they would somehow want the consumers to move on to their newer hardware one way or another - and one of the most basic ways to do that is to significantly decrease or even altogether drop support for the hardware i.e make anymore new games for it other than those that have already been announced before.

And of course, the upside for us from all that would be that developers would stop wasting their already limited resources on aging hardware and would instead focus on the newer technology availed by the next-gen consoles.

I'm not saying they aren't slowly dropping it, of course they are, but I am sure there are still a few surprises left in both PS2 and X Box's lifespans (not to mention other great looking titles like GOW2, Urban Chaos, X3 the game, Superman Returns, Marvel legends, etc).

That's exactly what I'm pissed at - potentially great games like God of War 2 belong on a next-generation system. Slap them on crapware like the PS2 and they'll end up being mere expansion packs rather than a full blown sequel.

Now that think of it, GOW2 looks like an expansion pack already.

Crapwear? You obviously didn't play many ps2 games!

And there are these things called sequels see ;) so you WILL get a GOW on PS3 eventually. GOW 2 looks absoloutly fantastic and it boggles my mind that anyone who played the first wont be looking forward to it (wings and horses? sounds like more spectacular set pieces to me which is a good thing).

I bet GOW 2 gets great reviews too, nothing 'potential' about it.

Played just about every single decent PS2 game there is.

And as of now, compared to the tech offered by the PC, PS3 and 360, the PS2 is nothing but a worthless pile of cowdung.

Yes, but imagine it running on a PS3. If the devs hadn't wasted their energies making it for the PS2, we could have gotten it as a PS3 launch title. Now I'll just have to wait another 2-3 years at least till God of War 3. Oh and God of War 2 looks like a friggin' expansion pack.

I know. It still should've been on the PS3.

There's nothing on the PC I want that PS2 hasn't had. Also I don't need to spend hundreds of bucks updating my PS2 to play games. I don't like PC gaming anyway but I have played LOTS of great PS2 games.

PS2 has been out FIVE YEARS or so and hasn't needed one update to remain great. Can you say that about PC? No, you need to updated it every few months just to play the best game. I really wanted Doom 3, but guess what? X Box (which would also be considered a crapware by your standads) handled it pretty well and didn't need an update.

360 and PS3 look good (at least PS3 TECHNICALLY looks good) , but PS2 has had some fantastic games over the years. If it wasn't for PS2, you wouldn't have a reason to be complaining about GOW not being next gen.

Meaningless subjective babble. The PC has had tons of amazing games over the years. And still does. Not to mention the PC's catalog of good games dwarfs the PS2's by a long shot.

Yes, according to current standards, both the PS2 and Xbox are crapware (moreso the PS2). And yes, PC gaming is a comparitively expensive hobby, but it's not without it's fair share of merits. Anyone arguing to the contrary is a fool - plain and simple.

That's because the PS2 has been out FIVE freakin' years. Big D'uh.

As if the 360 or the PS3 won't accumulate just as many great games (if not more) in the same amount of time.

For a dead console the PS2 is certainly kicking ass worldwide. It's still the definative leader in hardware and software by a large margin and it would be stupid of companies to, this early on, just abandon it. You're still seeing PS2 projectsbeing announced because PS2 projects still sell. Case closed.

I was implying that the PS2 is a dead console in technical terms and not sales figures. I thought I made that much clear when I said "current standards", especially when I repeated keep bringing up the PC, 360 and PS3.

For someone who flaunts her reading comprehension skills, you sure as hell can't read worth ****.

Sorry for only bothering to read your first post.

Oh wait, I didn't quote you explicity in my first reply, did I? Get over yourself. I was making a post about why you would still see PS2 projects being announced.

Yeah, you're stupidly impatient like that, hitting the reply button even before going through the whole thread.

Ever wonder why I said "at least Mikami" in that very post of mine you quoted and have an issue with? Go ahead, put those l33t comprehension skills to good use and show us just how well can you really read. But don't worry, I'll correct you and you'll still retain your good grades if you get it wrong, sweetie. I'm just so forgiving like that.

For someone who's critisizing me about reading comprehension you sure missed the point. Instead you dcided to veer off into pointless personal attacks.

I gotta say I agree with you (yes I know I am shocked too)
