Shooting at LAX Airport, several injured

:cmad: I was just thinking this morning when we're going to make it through a day without some crazy nut job shooting up some place. This is ridiculous.

More gun laws in coming!

Still, terrible incident. Thankfully more people weren't killed.

Great way to respond to a shooting, make a crack about gun laws like it's somehow a bad thing.

When are we as Americans going to get sick of hearing about incidents like this? It baffles me how things like this happen over and over again and yet we do nothing about it. It's like we have come to accept this is common place in our society and that's freaking ridiculous! Nobody should have to wake up and think they may get shot for no apparent reason just for going to work or some public place. I'm getting real sick of this and the gun nuts that promote this kind of America

What do you propose?

I'm so glad I don't live or work in LA any longer. The traffic on that 405 freeway right now would probably give me a stroke.

Now I guess I can expect a longer check-in time at LAX INTL, or more construction as they install metal detectors in every single entry point....le sigh....

What do you propose?

Honestly I think we should ban assault weapons just like Australia, and I think we should have tech that doesn't allow any convicted felon or violent offender the ability to use a gun

What changed from past years to the present that caused the upsurge in public shootings?

It's not like there was a huge increase in guns in circulation.

has there been an upsurge? i would think that things were worse in the old west or during the 70s and/or 80s when every single movie hero had a gun. hell, remember David Berkowitz?

Man I'm tired of this bulll####. All was something

Being angry at the government is one thing. Shooting people who are just doing their jobs and have NO influence on policy makes you a monster. I have no idea how to get that into the heads of weak-minded young men today (and yes, they ARE young men, every time you hear about something like this) but if we could, that would probably solve everything.

And yes, I went to West LA for a networking happy hour and traffic on 405 today was terrible even at 9:30pm.

Men...if a Man has issues, it's harder for him to reach out for help or to get help, cause our society has a double standard in that regard. Probably why single young men suicide rates are 4 times higher than single women. Not a excuse, just a fact. Men who are...self injure, unstable, mentally ill, etc aren't as likely to get help unlike a woman who has issues. Men are really just taught to man up and what not.

Women are wired differently.

How often do they go on shooting sprees?

Basically as men, we aren't supposed to ask for help. We're supposed to be the calm and rational ones, and just keep it bottled up for everyone else's sake. Not an excuse for the **** some of us do obviously, but that's how society has us pegged.

Lots of these shooters play violent video games religiously...I'm just saying.

See you say that but while there is a lot of blustering, pretty much nothing ever gets done, one way or the other.

According to Justice Department figures 324 people were shot with 124 killed in mass shootings in the United States from 2000-2008. From 2009 to 2012 there have been 404 people shot and 2007 killed.

Both the frequency and casualties of these attacks has increased in the past few years.

Quite a few of these we don't actually hear about outside of our local areas. These DOJ stats include shootings in which 4 or more people were shot. Somwhere aroune 40% of these cases are actually domestic cases in which people shoot their own families, rather than school shootings and the like.
