Should I buy Marvel Adventure's Avengers?

It's a kids book.
I'm not sure if it's good, I haven't read it.

Marvel Adventures is a line designed to target younger audiences, and is more about fun and adventure, and I don't think you would find similar to the New Avengers at all in tone. Although you might enjoy a book with a lighter tone.

But really, if you enjoy New Avengers, the most comprable books of good quality I would recommend are The Ultimates (more info on that book here) and The Authority (read the user reviews for the first volume here) Those're both excellent books and anyone digging New Avengers would like tham as well

Well I don't really care about the tone of the book. I care about reading about Wolverine, Spiderman, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spiderwoman, and Captain America fighting crime :-)

Hence the New Avengers as opposed to just buying old Avengers trades.

Oh don't get me wrong, I still love the Old Avengers but they needed a shake up.

Eh fair enough.

Still, it brought me back to the comic.

Different strokes.

Th' book's pretty good. I got a few laughs outta it. It's not the New Avengers, it's not th' classic Avengers. It's a whole new Avengers. Some characterizations are different from what we're used to. As stated, it's fer kids so th' adventures are fun and light. Plus, th' art is pretty damn decent fer an MA book. I've enjoyed it.

No they didnt.

Yes, they did. Old Avengers sucked major, as far as I'm concerned. Hawkeye, Thor, Vision - all terrible characters.

I like Hawkeye, Thor, Vision, Ant Man and the like.

I did think they'd become a bit routine and needed some new blood. Everything had become a bit too 'safe'

You've already made it very clear that your taste sucks. No need to keep reiterating it; we get it. :)

hahahahaha.... oh your serious.

I miss Busiek's Avengers. Bendis' haphazzard team and crap writin' suck.

I'm annoyed with New Avengers only because I didn't really see the need to do away with the old version so completely. Bendis wanted his grand cash machine and Marvel was more than happy to give it to him, and that's fine. But why couldn't the old Avengers have gotten themselves a nice, safe haven in the meantime? New Avengers has its fans, I get that, so obviously Bendis must be doing something right for some people, even if I don't see it. It doesn't work for me, though. I'd happily have picked up another comic with a similar spirit to the old Avengers and a few of their members, even if it's under another team name--and I know I'm not the only one--but Marvel just hasn't seen fit to provide the opportunity. The closest we've got is Young Avengers, but that's got a whole different point and spirit.

The problem is Bendis can't write teams, I love Ultimate Spidey and when he's dealing with one or two main heroes (see Powers) he's great, but he needs to realise that the approach needs to change when dealing with a team dynamic.

He's not a bad writer, hell he revolutionised DD, I just think he's the wrong writer for this particular book.

Giving him both avengers books post civil war is an awful idea because two teams of avengers should appeal to different fan-bases as it is it'll just be two halves of the same book, pay twice for the same bundle of goods...

That's my thinking as well. Whether you like Bendis or not, the same writer really shouldn't be handling both titles. I wouldn't want to see the same writer handle the JLA and the JSA or Uncanny X-Men and Astonishing X-Men, either.

WTF that's three people who've actually agreed with something I've said today. Am i suffering amnesia and today's my birthday or something :D

I can't agree with this sentiment at all. Sure, I like Captain America, but I have no interest in reading a character I like in a story I don't

I'll go one further; Bendis can't write SUPERHEROES. DD became a crime noir book, which he's good at. And Powers, if Bendis frigs up his own characters he's got issues. But books with standard superheroics? He falls on his face. Th' first half of Ultimate Spidey was decent, but he keeps chrunin' out uneventful stories with repeated elements that just drag it down. Not to mention his extremely drawn out style, stretchin' stories WAY longer than they need.

The only thing that sucks major here, is your taste.:o

Isn't that more down to marvel favouring the trade format these days than Bendis personal agenda?

Marvel's not the only ones who favor it, and Bendis isn 't the only one who writes for the trade, but they are the worst offenders

DC surprised me with their 3-issue Spectre mini-series. I thought that both publishers would at least try to adhere to the trade setup for minis.
