Marvel owns the rights. The creators did the characters as work for hire so there are no problems with rights.

DC is adding Archie Comics Superheroes and Milestone superheroes to their roster.

Malibu had some sweet characters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malibu_Comics).

It means we have some fresh characters who aren`t unworkably powerful (sentry, vulcan), Rip-offs of current characters (X-23, Arachne, Spider-Girl) or deceased characters making an inexplicable comeback (Winter Soldier). A couple of unique characters could freshen things up a bit.

I suppose some of them could be decent additions.

I always liked the All New All Differant Exiles, so some of them could be cool to see again. 'Strike and Shuriken specificially. I also liked that Dead Guy that was an Exile and later a part of Ultraforce, I forget his name.

Absolutley...

If anything it would just be fresh and new.

Lord Pumpkin would kick ass in the Marvel U.

DC is doing a revival of the Archie comics heroes like The SHield, The web etc..and I thought that was really exciting news.

I havnt been reading the twelve, so I won't knock it, but it just does NOT get me excited.

I think they should do a few Essential volumes or something just to gauge interest and they decide.

I'm a big fan of Malibu comics. They came out right when I was at my biggest collecting period and I've always considered them "my" generation of comics. Rereading them nowadays (and I do because I own every Malibu comic) they can be really cheesy in places but they still hold up for the most part.

Yes, but it will never happen. You have better luck wishing Frank Miller will return to Marvel one day.

I think the dead guys name was Ghoul. I'm not positive, though.

The only was I would agree with Marvel bringing bacl Malibu is IF they shut down the Ultimate line!?

Men in Black!
Men in Black!
Men in Black!

They are not SHUTTING down the ultimate line..that talk is just a stunt.

Millar himself just said the company was interested in "revamping the line"

The line sells well..and nobody here is stupid. It will live past ultimatum.

I always liked the the ULTRAVERSE..I don't quite get the point to buying a company if your not gonna USE the stuff/characters eventually.

I think they will eventually..but it may take a CEO less snide and egotistical as Joe Q.

The only reason I can think of is that Marvel bought Malibu so as to eliminate a competitor.

Which just seems wrong.

But not unprecidented in this industry. DC did it about five or six times.

I would love for them to re-introduce the Malibu line of comics.

The Ultra-Force and Prime were awesome. In fact Prime could very easily fill the Marvel/Superman type role and it would work better than Sentry. Plus he was kind a cool mix between Superman and Shazam.

Also Ghoul was great.

I'd love to see Prime in the Marvel universe. Plus, if the Malibu Exiles came back, it'd give Juggernaut a place to be a fun, morally ambiguous anti-hero, which is what he really ought to be if he's gonna go good, not a guy desperately struggling to fit in with the likes of the X-Men and Excalibur and failing miserably. Plus, it'd be cool to see all the Ultraforce characters reconnect with the Black Knight. :)

I didn't think that, actually. Black Knight played a huge role in the UltraForce, so having them reunite would be great.

Ghoul would be great against the Marvel Zombies also...you know...considering he's dead anyway. :oldrazz:

Marvel bought Malibu to get their in-house coloring process. In the 90's Malibu practically created what we consider the modern method of comic coloring with computers. That's why their books looked so much better than many other companies around that time. Marvel wanted that process, so they bought the company.

Malibu invented Photoshop?

No, but they were the first ones to figure out how to use it well in comics.

You have to realize that when Malibu launched in 1986, Photoshop didn't even exist for a couple more years. And by the time Marvel bought Malibu, Photoshop was only about 6 years old and only in it's 3rd version. At the time Malibu was bought, it's color artists could have been cutting edge for even knowing Photoshop existed, let alone already having mastered it and pioneering new ways to use it in comics.
