Prince Harry of England joined the army a while ago, as I'm sure many of you know. But did you know it's been announced that a month from now, he will be deployed to Iraq, and insurgents have vowed to either capture and torture him or kill him?

Not only is his own life in danger, but it poses all kinds of extra security risks for his unit. They are going to have to use extra manpower and resources to protect him, that they otherwise wouldn't need for your average soldier.

I think this is an extremely untillegent decision. He should not be deployed, not just for his own safety, but look at the situation. The hatred and civil war is already complex enough. The last thing we need is for the world to be up in arms after royalty has been tortured in front of a camera.

This can only make the situation between Iraq and the rest of the world worse than it already is.

He wants to go, so he should go.

He is no more important than any other soldier serving in Iraq.

If he wants to go yes he should go. The only thing that will make it worse is if they want to kill Harry they will kill other troops in the process. He is no more important than anyone else fighting out there, he signed up to do a job so he should do it

Is it fair to the other troops who are now in extra danger? His presence doesnt' even help the war effort. It actually hurts it.

Hell yes. Send him twice.

I voted yes, but the more I think about it, the more I tend to believe that if he's specifically targeted (which has been threatened), it will put the soldiers around him in greater danger.

I'd have to vote no only because I don't want other soldiers put in greater harm than usual - not because I believe the brat is any more important than anyone else.

At least he didn't join the air force reserves to avoid going to the front lines like a certain chicken hawk in the white house.

i always wanted to join the royal woman's baloon corp :)

This is one of those really difficult things to side with.

Part of me says that yes he should go as he has trained for this and wants to go, Why should he be treated any differently than anyone else just cuz his granny is the Queen?

BUT....

we know that there are a number of groups out there that want to kill him. If he goes he has more of a chance of dying than any other soldier out there. AND bewcause of this anyone with him is in more danger of being kill than normal.

It would be a MASSIVE coup for anyone to kidnap Harry and parade him b4 the world b4 beheading him.

I'm still undecided over this....

But he IS.

Look, for Harry, I say, go for it. It's just an incredibly dumb move when looking at it. It will give the insurgents extra material for their little war, and it's just plain dangerous for his squad.

Like someone else put it, his choice.

If he wants to go, let him. I'm not sure if a person of his status should be participating in the war like this, but it's his call.

10 bucks says he gets killed by "friendly" fire in the first week.

I'm mixed on it. On one hand, I think his intentions are good and I applaude his desire to serve his country.

On the other hand, the higher ups will be under strict orders to not actually let him do any real work which makes him sort of useless over there, not to mention there is increased risk by having him there. He will be a prime target to the insurgency. Imagine a Prince of England being decapitated on Al-Jazeera. Not to mention his unit will be in additional danger. I dunno. I'm mixed.

it's really unfair to the rest of the world for him to go. He's not just risking his own life.
The world has a lot of problems with the middle east, and Prince Harry being killed by muslim extremists is only going to fuel the hatred between the rest of the world and the middle east. It will only make people angrier and increase their desire for war.

Yes, he should. Hell, I think most of the Royal Family is rooting for his death--seriously, from what I've read, he's like the Paris Hilton of England. :o

tough call, but i voted yes. everything i would have said has already been said about it.

This is the best way he could save his image.

He goes from the spoiled brat who wears nazi uniforms to Halloween parties to a brave soldier willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

If he dies in combat they'll probably make it a national holiday and name schools after him. :whatever:

i dont think he should go for this reason. if the enemy has a special "plan" or w/e for anyone, royalty or not, they shouldnt go, its just asking for it

I agree.

This is just asking for a **** load of trouble, he’ll be the target of every insurgent in the area and if he’s caught the UK will be force to either treat him as a normal POW or succumb to terrorism. MI6 needs to tell the prick no.

Imagine a Prince of England being decapitated on Al-Jazeera.

Do you realize what that would do for the morale of the western world? As I said, no good will come from this.
