The poll and the first post are two different topics.

I think sharks are more democratic simply because they don't take orders from anything else.

I think dolphins are more trustworthy but would make poor soldiers. They would be too likely to want to play with their handlers (and you don't want to play with someone who's favourite trick is the head butt when there's a knife attached to it).

^Bam. Proof right there that we shouldn't trust 'em Flipper-types. They tried to ally with an illegal space alien who killed a guvm'nt agent an' stuff....next....them fish'll want our jaubs!

Derka derker!

The poll and the first post are two different topics.

Not really. The post is about whether we should trust dolphins because they probably don't believe in democracy. The poll is about which animal would believe in democracy. It makes perfect sense.

Oh my god, we actually changed things!

Mine-hunting dolphins to be replaced by robots

http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-12/03/dolphin-bomb-disposal

Dolphins trained to detect and mark mines as part of the US Navy's marine mammal programme will be replaced with robots by 2017.
Navy officials explain that the trained bottle-nosed dolphins will be phased out of their mine-detection role to make way for Knifefish -- a seven-metre torpedo-shaped unmanned underwater vehicle that uses sonar to pick out explosive devices in the water.
"About a quarter of [the Navy dolphins] would be affected. But it's not like they are going to go jobless. We have other assignments," explained Mike Rothe, head of the biosciences department at the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Centre Pacific in San Diego.
Currently the Navy makes use of dolphins' echolocation abilities to detect and tag mines tethered to the bottom of the ocean or buried in sediment.
The programme, based in San Diego, California, has previously seen the dolphins deployed in Iraq where they helped locate over 100 mines and traps in the port of Umm Qasr.
"Without the dolphins, we would probably still be out there trying to clear those waterways," said dolphin handler Sgt. Scott Young in the Smithsonian magazine.

Killer whales are aristocrats, living in their family systems. I doubt they are very much open for democracy.

Sharks are mindless killers, probably government agents. A less conservative, more democratic governments would likely mean budget cuts or even complete divisional shut-downs, so I'm sure they're not too fond of democracy either.

Goldfish are pretty much stuck in bureaucratic societies, where they have little to no opportunities for change and freedom. A goldfish with a bazooka could be seen as a rebel, seeking to break free. I trust most goldfish would embrace democracy!

I also think scuba lessons for all bald eagles should be obligatory in a democracy, everyone should have equal opportunities.

Not too sure about dolphins, they might be government operatives as well, though more brains than muscle.. They might be for democracy, but not for humans?! It's hard to tell with these creepy, smiling f**kers!

Vampire squids are obviously democratic.

My question is, do they hurt the dolphins? The part about bomb finding really seems twisted since we can easily get machines to do that rather than training suicide-dolphins. Just reading the above FINALLY coming to their senses of not using innocent creatures.

sure dolphins are trustable as long as you don't give them a football

Never trust a species that grins all the time. It's up to something.
-Terry Pratchett.

Dolphins can kill a shark without a weapon.

They're the Chuck Norris of the sea.

Yeah and they do it for the lulz as well.

They're not altogether very nice when you think about it

Umm... Wasn't this a SIMPSONS episode?

Oh, also the real threat is now and always has been the penguins.

I've told you this before. We can't trust dolphins, they're slippery characters...
