As to the anchors, a lot of them are outraged by it but it comes down to them either doing this or they face repercussions like getting fired.

Primarily we watch locals for The Weather.
Why watch several locals for weather?
Because I have noted a wide variance in the forecasts, as each deals with our rural area with varying degrees of competence and reliability.

I have noted in passing, a marked tendency towards bland 'vanilla' news anchors who were apparently born wearing polyester, and who sport the same plastic smiles.

I have often wondering is there were a factory cranking these people out somewhere.

You hit the nail right on the head! I would give you positive rep if this forum offered it!

Who ever controls the news source has enormous control over how their viewers vote hence the massive effectiveness in The "Pied Piper Strategy" and other coverage disparities that informed(manipulated) the last presidential primary season

There is a very obvious need for transparency, in regards to how long subjects(or candidates) are covered and how the are covered. At the end of ever news or pundit segment they should provide a a clear report card on their coverage of the subjects and candidates so that consumers, 5th and 6th estates can more easily assess how information is disseminated in order to hold the 4th estate accountable through the levers of power granted to consumers within capitalism

That way viewers are less ignorant of what it is they are consuming, and researchers will be better able to analyze content for chicanery and collusion which should make Sinclair/Pied Piper Strategies more obvious and less effective
