Sixaxis is the worst name for a controller in the history of the world, whether you spell it entirely in capital letters or no. Luckily, the Sixaxis also appears to be the worst controller in the world, so it's aptly named!
From an IGN hands-on of the Playstation 3:
"Compared to Microsoft's uber-comfortable Xbox 360 pad, the SIXAXIS feels cheap, plasticky, uncomfortable and disconcertingly light - almost as if it's going to fly out of your hands during those more extreme gaming moments. More worrying still, the newly-designed lower L and R shoulder triggers feel more like they belong on an early controller prototype than the near-final model. Replicating the 360 pad, rather than being simple shoulder-mounted buttons, the triggers are now hinged horizontally along the controller, with pressure forcing them inward along the bottom - like triggers then, really. Trouble is, they're placed almost unnaturally low meaning we found ourselves operating them by jamming our fingers in between the hinges to apply pressure, rather than using the buttons themselves. What's more, the triggers are convex, with no grooves to keep your fingers in place - an issue further compounded by their smooth finish, offering no resistance against your finger tips. Invariably we found our digits slipping off with the triggers snapping back to their default position. Bah."

SIXAXIS? More like SUXASSES, am I right? Wokka wokka! You guys can steal that joke if you want, I haven't copyrighted it or anything. Maybe we can get a meme going.

Wow... that's not good news.

I'm STILL waiting for SONY or SOMEBODY to tell me what the 4th, 5th, and 6th axis are.

PS3 is a 4-D system with at 6-D controller...something seems fishy about these claims...

worst ever? dont really think so.

wasnt there another article that said how much the controller improved?

reading these articles is basically useless, i'll see for myself.

SUX ASSES... ROFLMAOLOLGOMGFOMAOLMOOMOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111  :D :D

hahaha

WHF: Where did the Heil 360 thread go?

It got deleted. :(

Probably because of Zenien.

She loves sucking the fun out of these forums for the sake of the crappy PS3.

I had nothing to do with that.

Anyway it's one persons opinion. Plenty of other positive hands on impressions.

Yeah, but it comes from a site that many people pay attention to...

I doubt its the worst ever. Anyone remember the massive Jaguar controller? I had my concerns on the controller being light since its wireless and without the rumble feature. I hope they fix that up bc it needs a little weight to keep it comfortable

People only pay attention to whatever site is saying what they want to hear. Well not all people, but a lot do.

Bad 360 game review? BAM, IGN sucks. Someone of the 1UP show didn't like a 360 game? BAM!

Considering that the Sixaxis is designed just like the Dual Shock, I highly doubt that it is a horrible controller. The Dual Shock was one of the best controllers ever. Though I think that it is extremely stupid to replace the rumble feature with a motion sensor.

Worst ever? Nah. It has to be pretty bad to beat out the XBox, N64, Jaguar, Virtual Boy....

i loved the boomerang controller! i wish o could get that instead of the new suxaxis. some games are gona suck without the vibrating controller, even if i get the ps2 to ps3 controller thing the games still wont have vibration implimented in it

o and this is how sixaxis works

But 1 and 2 are on the same axis, and so are 3 and 4.

Space (up, down, left, right, forward, and back) is defined by 3 axis/dimensions.

6 directions, yes. But only 3 axis.

^ true

theres a beter diogram online someware but i cant find it

Hence, three-dimensionality being the limit of physical structure.

So Ken "4-D" Kutaragi = ****ing moron.

I like the PS2 controller, no doubt just through familiarity. So, I should think I'll find the PS3 controller fine too, though not particularly compelled by the whole tilt thing.

But thats the thing, it's not the PS2 controller. It's light as paper, and the L2R2 buttons arnt comfortable at all.

good lord, what's so hard to understand...

six axis, three of translation and another three for rotation...

analogue sticks normally provide 2 axes of rotation with the third, (in the y direction of your graph) not generally not used.

the six degrees of freedom is fairly basic mathematics, every one should be aware of them and what axis they represent.

hm... so it's a little light, and has uncomfortable shoulder buttons, and it's the worst controller ever? good logic!
