So I'm going to be flying on an airplane for the first time in 18 years...

I think that the plane would be grounded within an hour due to the slapfights breaking out.

The notion of a bunch of Hypesters on a plane is enough to turn one off from flying forever.

Go to Target or wherever, and get travel size toothpaste, shampoo and such. Anything bigger than 3 ounces, TSA will take it away.

Don't have ANYTHING in your pockets at the TSA checkpoint. Anything can set off the detector, and then they'll have to molest you pat you down. Put your keys, phone and such in your bag.

At the checkpoint, you'll have to take off your shoes and belt and put em in a plastic bin to go through the scanner.

Say nothing to the TSA goons.

Once you survive their attempts to violate your civil liberties, have a bite to eat, buy a snack before you board, and enjoy your flight. :yay:

I don't plan on bringing any snacks on board. I only plan on bringing my laptop and checking my regular bag. I'm also thinking about just picking up toiletries when I get there instead of lugging that stuff along. Just seems easier that way.

If they do 'pat you down', don't act like you enjoy it. I hear that makes them testy.

Also, if you do get taken out of line 'randomly' due to skin color, don't make jokes about it. My uncle Bernie gets taken out of line 'randomly' every ****ing time and he was born in the backwoods of Eastern Canada.

If you're staying at a decent hotel or motel they should have some items like shampoo, soap, but you should invest in some travel size toiletries. You may want to freshen up on your flight.

This made me laugh. But it's true. The less you say the better off you'll be. lol

I'm sure someone already mentioned this but make sure your shoes are off before you get to the conveyor where you put items like your wallet in the little tub for the X-ray. As well as emptying all pockets, putting those items in the tub. Last time I flew, I was coming back from Vegas and I forgot my sunglasses were on my shirt and the lady reminding everyone about their personal belongings and whatnot gave me major attitude. I had my shoes off already and everything from my pockets was in the tub, I just forgot I even had sun glasses because I bought them in Vegas and haven't had a pair in over a year.

In short, she was a c***, not just to me either. I understand she constantly has to remind a lot of people every day to take off shoes and remove this or that and that can get tiring and annoying but I still don't care. If you hate your job that much, shut up and look for another one.

Another important tip: Watch this movie

You know, I've never flown in an airplane before, like ever.

You know, I've never flown in an airplane before, like ever.

This will be my 3rd time ever. Once to Florida, once to Colorado and now to Vegas. I'm looking forward to it. I'm flying JetBlue and everyone I've spoken to said they are great.

I hate long haul flights.

American immigration is super unfriendly for some reason.

I've never had a problem with immigration in any country, but I think that's because I'm either so tired or excited after an intl flight that I don't care.

I've not had a problem either bar the States as well and I've traveled quite a bit.

You should fly more often and to different countries. The best education you will ever get will come from traveling.

And I'm curious to know how things have changed (other than the big obvious one). The last time I took a plane to go anywhere was when I went to Colorado for vacation after I graduated high school. Does anyone have any interesting tidbits they would like to share....? I'm not sure what to expect.

You can bang on the cockpit door now and ask to come in.

It was free bud. I won a prize.

You mentioned you are going on JetBlue? I have never flown with them. I'd be curious to see how you like then though.

I'm a frequent flyer with American Airlines. Overall, I've just had the best experience with them and their sister carriers.

If the plane starts to go down just imagine that you are on the best roller coaster ride of your life. If youre feeling really generouse give the person beside you a big ol kiss. Guy or girl doesnt matter. They might momentarily forget they are about to die. If the pilot manages to pull the plane out of the dive however its gonna be a very awkward plane ride back to the airport.

Kinda a dark joke so I'll spoiler it.

:woot: I have only had to deal with U.S. customs on arrival...and they are always nice to me.

Edit: in fact the only time I had issue with U.S. immigration is upon return from an intl cruise. Port call is the worse.

If you answer questions honestly and don't give any attitude, you should be fine regardless of where you go. That being said, I have a friend whose dad is named Mohammed and he is always chosen for "additional" screening. Always.
