Nell2ThaIzzay goes emo...

Anyways, I've been an assistant manager at F.Y.E. for the past year and a half or so, and the past few months it's been going really horribly (I hate that company, and I would suggest to anyone that if possible, not to shop at F.Y.E., Wherehouse, Suncoast, Sam Goody, or any other store owned by Trans World Entertainment). Well in talking to my friend awhile back, she told me about her ex-boyfriend who needs managers at his store - he's the store manager of Hot Topic. I got ahold of him, and got the job, so I'm going to be an assistant manager at Hot Topic.

Only problem: talk about being a fish out of water.

I'm um... not a very "Hot Topic" kind of guy. You can see from my avatar (and my signature) who my favorite group is - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. And the rest of my musical tastes revolves around the Hip Hop style of music. And R&B. And as a consequence, that's also how I dress as well...

My rock tastes is pretty much Linkin Park, new Incubus, and other than that, a bunch of random stuff here or there (some Hendrix stuff, but not a Hendrix fan. Some Doors stuff, but not a Doors fan. Some Eagles, Foreigner, and some random newer stuff like Evanescance or even *coughcreedcough*).

So this is gonna be a fairly new experience for me. Gonna be tough for me. I mean, yea, I'll obviously do research and stuff to learn about my new environment. But it's gonna be hard, because I hate so much of that stuff with a passion!

You'll be surprised about how much you'll absorb working in a new environment. Look at it as a way to broaden your musical tastes...there can be a lot of new music to be discovered working in a place like that, talking to different people. My most eccentric musical period in my life was when I worked at Tower Records and talking to people who had different but similar (yes, you read it right) musical tastes to mine.

And start wearing black...i'd stay away from the eyeliner though.

That'd be a cool job, I love the t shirts there, other than that it's all goth stuff. I'd say, pick a Marilyn Manson cd and listen to it, and you'll know what it's like there. Congrats on getting the job though.

Just let you know. Code red means someone has slit their wrists in the store :woot:

(joking)

I'd stick my head in there more if I didn't think the whole staff would tie me to a stake and burn me, you'll probably bring in more cust.:cwink:

And by the by, that newest Bone is the shat- "LISTEN TO THE WIND BLOWWWW" , and the one w/ Twista..."..thugs in the middle of the map!!"

You wouldn't be from Miami by any chance.

Either way, look at it this way, they hired you to assistant manage, not listen to their crappy music.

Oh yeah, Scott Stapp became a boozer and a loser.

The American public can only handle one ***** rock band at a time. Right now that band is Nickelback.

I think the right question is, what didn't happen to creed?

No, the right question is "What SHOULD have happened to Creed?". I would like for them to reform so they can get what's coming to them. :cmad:

Congrats on the new job, Neil. Treat it like you're an exchange student working in a foreign country and you'll be just fine.

Maybe you'll get to see some hot emo and goth chicks.

I don't think we have Hot Topic here in NY, just this place called Ricky's.

Used to have a Spencer's, the closest thing Canada came to a Hottopic.

i love hottopic but not the people working there.

they just pretty much scare me.

Hey itll be a new experience, youll get use to it:up:

Now we need one of the resident Abercrombie and Fitch/Hollister wearing, rock lovers to start working at one of the hip hop themed clothing stores.

Where instead of the dark clothes they're use to wearing, they'll probably have to start wearing brightly color clothes they you always see in a hip hop clothing store.

I'm sorry about the little emos you'll have to deal with, as well as the constant smell of burning rubber :csad:

But hey, I may be working at my mall's Gamestop soon. So I'll have to deal with little ********s too

Anybody working at a Hot Topic or a video game store is basically required by law to have a snarky sense of humor and self righteousness. They're all like thinner versions of Comic Book Guy. And everytime you go in there they always have a discussion going on about some obscure pop culture thing.

^Every time I go to the comic book store in downtown, they always look at you like you're not suppose to be in there.
