So wat was so bad???

Yes, because if it's one thing a daredevil movie needs, it's a Kung fu meet cute between elektra and Matt :o

:hehe:

But what else were they going to do?Matt has a long conversation in the coffee shop about life and tries to hook up with her?

I thought that that scene was dumb, and that there were MANY other/better ways that that relationship should have started. However, I also disagree with the notion that just because a character has a goofy moment or a quirky character trait, that that automatically makes it hard to buy the more emotional stuff that happens to them. Yeah Drax had a somewhat humorous character quirk, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a man who's wife and daughter had been brutally murdered and that that had essentially broken him. So his confrontation with Ronan wasn't out of place at all. Elektra having this one goofy scene doesn't negate her father getting killed, her blaming DD, her trying to kill him, or her death.

McMahon was pretty good with the aristocratic, haughty attitude Doom has and he looked pretty good behind the mask.(I think his voice was well suited too) But,I think he was a bit weak in the "towering rage" department.(another Doom staple)His only real attempt in the "I don't want to understand it!" scene came across as unintentionally humorous.

Yeah, to me he was more snobby than aristocratic (which is a whole different species of snobbery) and was pretty unconvincing at the "towering rage" thing, as you say.

Also, I've often thought Doom was a very unhinged character, I mean he refers to himself in the 3rd person from time to time in the comics (which is scary, but also occasionally hillarious) and McMahon didn't even go there (although perhaps that's more the writers' fault than his).

McMahon just didn't have the presence for Marvel's greatest evil mastermind. It would have been a tough role for anyone, but good casting would have really helped.

I just think he was the wrong man for the job. But that's just IMO.

If I was casting FF today, it'd be Richard Armitage probably for Doom.

On DD, you can have a rom com meet cute, but that means you need a rom com ending, you can't build the tension of her death and the fight against her killer on playground shenanigans, and then go back to wrap up an almost forgotten dead dad storyline.

They could have met in combat. They could have met in court. Either one could have been a lead in either of the other's mission or both. Something theme appropriate that is evocative of what the film (and comics) was trying to do with the characters.

I like the parallel they were going for with the fight.First they spar in playful innocence, then they fight the second time when Elektra is out for blood.Matt tries the same move to subdue her that worked the first time, but fails the second time. It's really quite meaningful foreshadowing of their relationship that people chalk up as "the lame playground scene",but it's actually pretty clever.

It's only pretty clever if it comes off and the audience enjoys it.

I think some 85% of the audience takes it as face value and doesn't even bother looking for subtext. So the fault really lies in the audience not being clever enough to search it out.

Ok so then lets say this as far as
Spiderman3
X-men 3

They suffered from Overkill.
Ergo the multiple stories and characters and villians.
So less Overkill and more grit.

Daredevil
Fantastic 1&2

Suffered from Under kill.
Ergo the campiness.
Daredevil was on the mark had it been just a little bit Darker with a little more Grit.
I think it would have been excellent.
He is easily Marvels Dark Knight.
Fantastic Fours were on the mark needed more Weight and Grit.

So as I see it all of these movies suffered for lack of Grit if you will.
As in being deeply rooted or grounded.
Anything can work if grounded and rooted properly.
