You're thinking of the Simpsons episode with Sideshow Bob's brother. Said brother wanted to be a clown and used a pie-in-the face gag but the producers of some show werent into it,saying it was only funny when the person had dignity. Bob(in a suit) gets hit with a pie and they all laugh.
