Sequels So WHY isn't X-Men 4 happening?

Yeah, Fox isn't going to spend a boat load of money on a sequel when the series looks like it's losing steam.

So after a disappointing Wolverine prequel, Fox and Donner wants to do:

- X-men First Class (another prequel with teen versions of the original three and Beast)

- Gambit (Another prequel film on the Gambit origins)

- Deadpool (another film set prior to X-men in the past)

- Magneto (another prequel origins story)

- X-men Origins: Wolverine II (another Wolverine prequel set in Japan)


.... Is this franchaise EVER moving forward?


Why is TPTB against X-men 4 and committed to all these prequel backstories? What's the logic behind this?

That's a real good question. I don't get it either. An X-4 would destroy every movie the box office. Besides, other than the Deadpool spin off, who really wants to see X-men Dawson's Creek, Magneto, Wolverine 2 etc. instead of X-men 4?

I rather have an X-Men 4, not a family movie ffs. But I don't think an X4 is needed anyway, Ratner made sure to kill Prof.X and Cyclops, compromising an X4 (THANKS ALOT!). With all these Origin movies, I'm not sure if an X4 is needed right now anyway.

I have a far out, most likely unrealistic, idea for X-4 and fixing the X-Men franchise.
Bring in Cable, a mutant soldier from a future where because of the events in X4 mutants are hunted, imprisoned in camps, used for labor and experimentation, and ultimately killed.
He is sent back in time by the man once called Xavier, now in another man's body, to stop the events of X4, save his parents Scott and Jean, and save Charles Xavier.
Cable's time traveling aspect to his stories could be used to undo the damage caused by X-Men 4, and introduce a new popular character into the movies as well as start a new franchise, and sequels.

In one of the sequels they could even introduce the New Mutants, or the X-Force.

Cable could be used to undo bad movies, or bad parts of movies, and fill in plot wholes or explain why things don't match up.

I would actually have Bishop go back in time in order to make sure Cable gets born. Cable going back in time to save his own parents seems weird.

They should just go ahead and make an X4 or some sort of continuation of the story. I'm sure they could get most of the main cast back if they tried. I guess $$$'s the issue, or they just don't know how to pull the pieces together after the plot events of X3, but the film would open BIG, imo. I'm looking forward to the prequels and spin-offs, but an X4 (or something similar) would still be on the top of my list!

I hope with Days of Future Past happening with the original cast, I hope they make DOFP as a X-Men 4 movie then after that they will move on to X5 and X6.

This series will just lose steam with prequels and spin-off movies.
