For beginners to the convention going experience or those looking to go to one in the future, take a few minutes to read this helpful guide:

(can't directly link to it for some reason, just scroll down a little, it's near the top)

Good suggestions on there. Also, bring $100 more than you think you'll spend. Trust me on this one.

Interesting advice, me and my dad are actually going to our first in September--Phoenix Comic-Con.

I'll be going to Wizard World Philadelphia in a few weeks. I always have fun at that.

Those are some pretty solid tips. I'm a pro when it comes to going to conventions though. I've been to quite a few.

as have I. Ever hung out with anybody?

No, not really. I just usually walk around, get some autographs, talk to some pros, go to some panels, buy stuff. Last year at WWP, I got to see Batman Begins before it came out. On Imax no less. That was cool.

Seacon 84 was the first Sci Fi convention I went to it had "lots" of mad scientologists hyping the book Battlefield Earth lol. Aside from that it was a marvelous experience and Hawkwind played as the "Sonic Assasins".
