Social studies teacher ties up teen girls in class to demonstrate slavery

If he tied every one up it wouldn't be as odd

Haha! I wonder what career she'll move on to next, because I'll be surprised if she gets to keep her current one.

How does Terry find these crazy stories? lol

i think this is a race card play in all fairness...

nothing about it sounds particularly malicious...

that is a creative way to get the point across. i think it only went wrong cause the girl had a problem with it. otherwise i dont see it as all that bad, if thats all that happened.

I think a big part had to do with the fact that the girls in question were African Americans. Thats not cool.

"If a student was upset, then it was a bad idea," said Superintendent Brian Monahan of the North Rockland School District in New York City's northern suburbs.

Student: Homework is upsetting.

Superintendent: Then it's a bad idea.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Seems like the mother is making something out of nothing.

I also doubt whether the child actually was upset at all, or if it is just the mother making it up so she can raise a fuss. Regardless, this was supposed to be an educational experience, and to fire the teacher because he pissed off a parent with this harmless exercise is going a tad bit overboard. Had he whipped the girl or called her the "n" word, then I would see a legitimate case. But this was simply a poor decision which was meant to be educational but backfired due to external circumstances.

Teachers aren't supposed to be this stupid.

Well it does kinda bringa about the whole obsurdity of it all.

i mean *gasp* there were black slaves, there are black slaves around today....

what a shock...:sleepy:

heard about the story this morning...i was pissed

Way to make a sweeping generalization, man. ^

reminds me of the time that my teacher layed us all down huddled together to show us how being on a slave ship was. 4th grade or so.
