Both Alien Costume sagas (90's TAS & Spectacular) have some very similar themes:
Both centered around Spidey trying to clear his name from a crime he didn't commit.
Both involved Rhino & Shocker.
Both involved him getting close to Felicia Hardy.
Hmm.
About the only theme they didn't share was Aunt May going to the hospital, which in the 90's happened in (IIRC) the next story arc.
